Net migration at over half a million a year? I am in the minority but I say good news.

This if applied correctly and the battle against the small boats crossings can only be good news.

I think the minimum income threshold was set as the point top up means tested benefits kick in. So if the minimum income needed goes up..does it mean the means tested benefit threshold is to go up? Just what workers on low incomes need to hear.

They don't need to, a lot of bogus students including filipino, Indian, Nigerian etc come to the UK as bogus students studying the cheapest courses possible like English, David Beckham studies, banana bending, basically the cheapest possible courses just to get in, no student of this sort of course ever has the intention of going back to live in their country of origin, their intention was always to get in to "Study" and work.

my wife was here on a student visa ( 2008-12); her visa permitted work: 20 hours a week. She earned enough to keep herself and support her kids back home. When i met her she soon told me she needed to marry a british man so she could settle here. I prefer honesty even though others may question her motives. She is the hardest working person ive ever known. She was a midwife back in the philippines--20 years career. She was poorly paid--like most essential health workers are.

Yup, lots of people come here on cheap student courses, to work, but the end goal isn't study, it's to stay, there was the famous "college" in hounslow which started out as a flat  the whole thing is a farce which needs tightening up, genuine university courses would be the was, all the mickey mouse colleges should be shut.

Greaaaaat impose toughee measure of those who come legally and pay the pay... While we let more illegals in.... What a country this is... I get it about the people who come and study here on why do they need to bring 5 family members over... But for a single spouse who you are married to.. And making it harder is literally taking the piss out of us
