hi everyone,my name is wayne, bit of advice,if possible please.I have a filipino fiance,we've been chatting for 6 months,on whattsapp and skype and I have been to meet her in dubai, had a great time got on very well with each other, plan to go back and marry her in dubai in august 2016,would it be easier to go down the fiance visa route though,I have hundreds of photos of us in dubai,we whatts app and skype every day and I meet the financial requirements, what else is there that I need, have we a fair chance of getting a visa, thank you.
Hello Wayne and welcome to British Filipino. You have met your good lady in person and you meet the financial requirement so you only have the UKVI application to overcome. All the information you need for a successful visa application is contained within this forum. Good luck and feel free to ask any questions
You may want to look at the requirements for getting married in Dubai, I met my wife in Dubai and we initially looked at getting married there but the paper work put us off.
how long is the seminar process in dubai before marriage, and is it a strict rule that you cant live together while waiting to marry
You could go to jail in Dubai for living together unmarried if someone was to report you, the religious police turn a blind eye to it but they have to act on it if reported. You can go to jail there for holding hands with your girlfriend there too, be careful, no public displays of affection when not married. I've worked and visited the UAE many times, its where I met my wife. Regarding getting married in Dubai, I know Filipino Nationals can marry at their Embassy but I do not think Brits with Filipina can marry in the Philippine Embassy. I know people who have flown to Cyprus from Dubai to get married. Note there are only a couple of Christian churches in Dubai. Why not marry in the Philippines or the UK?
thanks timmers, looks like a fiance visa could be the best solution, although my lady has spoken about maybe marrying in the philipines
I prefer the philipines cos then we can wed with her family there which every lady would prefer I think
only trouble is the amount of time it takes with seminars and stuff in philipines annd dubai, and getting time off work is the problem, looks more likely that a fiance visa is the way to go.how much is a fiance visa please,in fact how much we looking at all together, also do you have to book registry office in advance of your application, and do u have to ask permission from the home office to marry in uk,thanks.
Fiancée visa is payable online at $1530, visa is valid for 6 months in which time you have to get married and apply for FLR(M) £649 + £500 NHS surcharge, the FLR(M) is valid for 30 months after which you will have to apply for a second FLR(M), whatever the cost will be then I don't know. After another 30 months your good lady will be able to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) at more expense of course. A short time after she can then apply for British citizenship. What I have described is commonly known as the five year route. So, you have a long and expensive route is ahead of you, and a lot of stress and time filling forms out
Regarding getting married in the UK, you have to show in your visa application that you intend to marry, in my case I submitted receipts for wedding rings and correspondence (emails) with the Registry Office, in addition I submitted quotes for reception venues.
i made a provisional booking at my local registry office---for sept 1st. £40 fee. this allows one change of date. now booked for 1st march next year. i think we will miss that date too lol.
if you plan on getting married in the philipines,do you have to go to seminars before the ceremony?if yes,how long are these seminars for.
is 1 month long enough to compleat all the seminar/counceling and marriage in the philipines, only have this time due to work.
Yes, everyone is required to attend the seminar. My timetable (all done within 30days) earlier this year for provincial wedding in Mayor's office . I arrived Manila Sept 2nd. Embassy appointment Sept 3rd. ... swore oath and given my Affirmation certificate. To the province.... Seminar/councelling. Sept 11th at the local municipal offices. Officially 4 hours, actually took about an hour and was a bit of fun. Cost... minimal amount. Can't even remember. Sept 14th....handed in my partner's CENOMAR to Registrar, plus all other required documents for the marriage licence, and paid all outstanding fees (p1040). Marriage ceremony Sept 26th.
One month is fine. Make your schedule/plan and have your fiancee complete as much as possible. Even with a couple of unscheduled delays you'll still be OK. Nothing too much to worry about. Plenty of info here on the forum already.
