Take the minimum. What you are going to wear on the flight + 'phone - Laptop & camera? Additional, 1 Pr. socks - Wash the used pair and dry overnight. 1 Pr. underpants wash & dry as above. 1 Pr. Slacks & shorts. 2 shirts. Tshirts ? buy the Tourist souvineer's here Credit Card. Cash Card. SMALL amount of cash - say £100 = $150 Get a toothbrush shaving kit on last leg of your flight ? other necessities ? "tubig" means water here. Carrying $$$$ by the 1,000's is a theft/loss risk + worry & not worth taking, IMO, for the saving on Xchange with a money changer ? in itself a risk by cash exposure. Clothing is cheap here. Buy what you find you need when here. Enjoy. :vhappy: Tom
There is a Brit in prison in Olongapo who was caught carrying a gun. He's been held for two years and still hasn't come to trial. The only way for a foreigner to legally own a gun in the Philippines is to join the Coast Guard Auxiliary. In thirty years I never felt in necessary to carry a weapon.
Yeah it's like I used to feel safe in central Glasgow or Kelvinside or Pollockshields, but I would not spend much time outside my car or even stop in Easterhouse if I coudl avoid it Hope you managed to get familiar with some of the nicer bits of Glasgow when you were here Majah!
No airline allows pepper sprays onboard. If you feel it necessary to carry some defensive weapon then the Philippines is probably not for you.
Yuna doesn't have a choice Bob, she was born there she just was not aware of the airline restrictions.
Thanks for the comments on safety everyone. But really, I'm not going to be taking any form of weapon. I'm a level headed guy, and don't like weapons anyway. If I get into any sort of trouble I'll deal with it in the best way possible at the time. I was just curious as to the actual level of 'danger' but in general, other than being cautious as one should be when traveling, I'm not concerned to the point of taking any form of defence. Thanks again.
Oh btw, my professor in phil music told me that the best route to Sagada is Manila - Banaue and then another 45 mins to an hour jeepney ride to Sagada. The jeepney can be rented for 3K (best if you will be traveling in groups) and then you can ask the driver to stop over to some nice place like the Bontoc Library etc... Just watch out for the weather forecast before you leave to Sagada
Oops, oh yeah thanks. When I entered £450 into the calculator on here I saw 30k and thought I was looking at 3k. Seems reasonable now.
Condoms They should be in every survival kit especially if you are going hiking man. Better to get the non lubricated type.
Imodium is a must................ For security, take an old wallet along, fill it with old expired cards, monopoly money (Turkish Liras) and keep it handy... If someone asks for your wallet with the help of a sharp cutting implement, hand it over and look scared.... By the time The guy realises that it is a dummy, you will be well away...
We are all here to help, in the hope that one day, the helped could also become the helper to others...
