I hadnt heard of this band until a few weeks ago, but there latest song is really catchy and i find i have LSS . Have a listen you might like it..
What you hadn't seen me raving about them I saw them at the 2018 Shrewsbury Folk Festival on the Monday, feckin amazing absolutely fantastic, I became an instant fan, I adore the pipes Celtic Rock at its finest!
No i have to admit I hadnt seen you raving about them, but fair play you were right, but this latest single is getting lots of air time on Radio 2 which is where i have heard it many times.
You know I just searched the forum and I might have only raved to the admins that's the only reference I can find with me and Skerryvore mentioned what a shame I never posted about them on the open forum. They did a great version of Runrig's Rocket to the Moon as well and a good version of Dougie Maclean's Caledonia although Dougie's version always makes me cry. Another great band in similar vein is Skippinish.
This is their version of Caledonia. This is Dougie's, I am certain I saw Dougie perform this in Paisley folk club back near the end of the 1970s.
This is an incredible Rock instrumental utterly blew me away live. Soraidh Slan and The Rise. I've pre-selected the position this started at in the stream.
I missed 2019 didn't have enough annual leave left to do August, I did 2017 and 2018 the full weekend Friday to Monday both times, I stay with my mate Norrie and his partner Sue and we all attend the festival, postponed last year and this year is a bit too expensive and probably still an open question if it will be on this year.
This shot below is my arm at 34:38 in the Shrewsbury video That's where I took most of my shots from that weekend but I did go up and around the mosh pit a few times for other bands, Skerryvore were so good I didn't want to move from my seat I just wanted to listen. edit: I was using the Canon 70-200 F4 L for a lot of this, brilliant lens.
If you liked this one Mike here is The Rut at about 46 minutes another brilliant Rock piece. I think actually two pieces that run one after the other.
The boys are from Skye, Scott the most recent member is from Erskine near where I used to live. Actually I'm wrong Martin and Daniel (the brothers) are from Tiree.
I was in Skye as a child, my dad took us all over Scotland when I was small might have been in Tiree, I know I have been in some of the Hebridean islands at one point, but I doubt I have been to the isle of Skerryvore. edit: in fact I am pretty certain I have never been to the rock it's basically a lighthouse
