Agreed. However for example the problem is colossal in India. https://mumbaimirror.indiatimes.com...sing-weight-can-help/articleshow/78539152.cms
Covid: South Asian hospital patients 'at greater risk of dying' https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-54476259
There are signs of this happening in the Philippines, I believe. But. The double burden in India of malnutrition and obesity: https://bmjpaedsopen.bmj.com/content/4/1/e000505
Although I loved travelling around India for a month in the 90's, it was easy to see the vast gulf between the haves and the have-nots. India was an assault on the senses every day; one minute there was the wonderful smell of incense followed the next minute by human excrement on the pavement. I believe the gap between rich and poor is greater now than when I was there and, sadly, the children are affected greatly: https://www.hindustantimes.com/indi...-hard-study/story-MFd0BR2vQXleZfjCydV8QJ.html
I wish lazy journalists and reporters would clarify more accurately between "South Asian" and "South East Asian".
Some more than others, John (and some surprising data): https://eu.usatoday.com/picture-gal...e-widest-gaps-between-rich-and-poor/39510299/ and https://www.theweek.in/theweek/cove...he decade between 2005,to a middle-income one.
This reference to South Asia seems to mean the Indian sub continent as far as I can tell. And distinctly doesn’t seem to include SE Asia. However in many cases I personally see South Asia and SE Asia as being one and the same when it comes to skin tone, exposure to the sun and vitamin D and Covid 19 vulnerability, for example.
The oil industry that we worked in made a clear distinction, John; it seemed to be a line drawn between Bangladesh and Myanmar (Burma) going into the Bay Of Bengal. For me, S.E. Asia was always a great area to go to work.
I know. Whenever I post in this thread about Covid 19 related concerns that Mrs Ash comes under, I am referring to her susceptibility owing to her skin pigmentation and it’s inherent filtering of sunlight in this country. She of course is from the Philippines but those from the Philippines that died in this country owing to Covid 19 earlier in the pandemic in the U.K., tended to get lumped in with the rest of what has become known as the BAME community. This South Asia / SE Asia referencing adds to the fog. Of course there are many Filipinos in the health and nursing sector and a number of those that died were from that sector. Firstly they were exposed to the virus in their profession, but secondly were prone to it’s worst effects. Hence now that Autumn is here, we are all taking supplements of vitamin d and Eating plenty of foods containing vitamin d.
Looks like we are all heading back to some form of lockdown, in some regions at least. The schools and universities are being kept open so pubs, clubs and restaurants are going to get hammered... On comes the BCG jab..
Mrs Ash, the youngster and me were planning to visit Liverpool and Jollibee during the school holidays. However it looks like Liverpool is going to be locked down.
Not to the degree that it restricts going to Jollibee or other places in normal hours after 5 am or before 10pm.
Just checking the Tier 3 restrictions and Liverpool and it looks like you are right. Mrs Ash is chomping at the bit to go. Squeaky bum time for her and her planned visit.
oh these poor students................well they are poorer now,https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-54511643
I had a trip and overnight stay in Chester (my old stomping ground) set for the end of this month and that has also had to be cancelled.
If you do go (and no covid reasons not to at present) avoid L1 car park massive roadworks in place both sides of the carriageway!
