The rice is perfect indeed the grains usually separate better when microwaved, I remove the rice from the bags while frozen and place the billet in a plastic tray 2 minutes 30 seconds in a 700 Watt microwave comes out perfect and tastes perfect.
We did consider getting one, but the fryer we already have is only 12 months old, and it has been used only a handful of times.. So she is fresh out of luck there.........
There are not many things I want to fry and generally most that I do fry are done in the Wok with little oil.
Jet sees something, and instantly she wants it...... Sometime I do give in if I see a glimmer of a need for whatever she has her eyes on, but in most cases she listens to reason. the only annoying thing is that I am always well equipped with tools of all sorts for all sort of jobs around the pad. I have always been a very keen DIYer, but she has been driving me absolutely barking mad by moving stuff to the attic. So I look for something that I need...... Don't find it where I left it ... and end up going out a buying another one........
My wife does fry. She does some nice fried chicken but deep fries it in vegetable oil. Also spring rolls (lumpia Shanghai?). I usually avoid eating too much of her fried cooking and either grill or fry in butter, and so we were thinking of an air fryer as only a small amount of oil is necessary. A few people say that air fried chicken without batter is pretty good (nice crispy skin).
Yes, got the Philips Air fryer when it first came out. We use it most days and it's very useful as well as a healthier option compared to deep fat frying. It is really versatile and can be used as a small oven rather than just an alternative to frying or cooking in oil. (Oven) Chips are much better than in a conventional oven and it cooks most things faster than an oven. For example last night we used it to cook garlic bread and whilst the instructions on the packaging suggest 10-12 minutes it takes about 7-8 minutes in the Air fryer - and at a lower temperature than the oven. It is more economical to run than an oven as the warm up time is just about 3 minutes compared to around 10/12 in the oven. It cooks faster and at a lower temperature (as mentioned above) so you use a LOT less electricity. It can also be used as an alternative to the microwave when warming things up. The microwave can leave things a bit soggy when warming up but not with the Air fryer. We must have had ours for 8 years and it's still going strong. If it ever packs up I'll get another one, although possibly the larger model next time.
Im all ears..if its better than oven chips done in the oven... Had several deep fryers over the years..they stink the house out.
My sister and I both have the Actifry and it is OK. After a while it becomes difficult to see into it as it gets dirty. My father has seen them and he has an air fryer and says it is much better......and my Dad knows his chips! I will keep the Actifry until it doesn't work and will get an air fryer next.
We have an Actifry and it is so much tastier than the deep fryers, bigmac, and more healthy too. I ALSO had chips done in my father's POWER air fryer XL and they were even better than chips done in the Actifry: He said families should get the 5 Litre one:
Just bought this one today (Power XL) It’s fairly big. We did chicken nuggets and chips for the youngster and they were perfect. We then tried chicken legs in a chinese marinade on their own but found we had underdone the chicken. We ended up almost doubling the time to get them cooked through aswell as crispy on the outside. So we are learning. It’s amazingly neat and tidy.
Definitely a good call recommending the larger size! We use it virtually everyday for a cooked breakfast.
Try and get everything in at same time. But different foods take different time. So sausages go in first, followed by bacon alongside and fresh tomato added last of all. There are 2 of us and the little one so that does us. Eggs normally in the frying pan with olive oil. Sometimes we have to cook in 2 stages if cooking a heap of chicken wings so an even bigger one might have been better.
