Hi should be applying for a visitors visa soon for my girlfriend.I read on govuk that you have to apply three months in advance, so apply now but can't fly over until October. Also it takes on average 15 days to get told if you can have a visa or not, is this correct ?
Yeah you can apply up to 3 months in advance from your intended date of travel. If you wish to travel October 6 you can START applying for the visa from July 7, which means you can apply August and September too. They will ask your intended date of travel in the application and if you put October they may start the validity on October or they may start it on the day they made the decision, up to the officer. It only takes 15 working days to make a decision for a standard visit visa.
Your interpretation isnt right, you can apply at the earliest 3 months ahead of your travel date i e apply 1st august travel date proposed November 1, However for example you apply 1 August 2017, proposed travel day on application 1 September 2017 (application process 15 days assumed) then. you would have a visa for your proposed travel date. The key word "earliest"
My Partner who is Filipino lives in Dubai. I have visited her twice in Dubai, also I have visited her family in Philippines along with her this June. She wants to visit me end of August or start of September 2017. We understand this is 15 day turn around for the Visitor Visor application. The question is. It is better I am her sponsor (we plan to get engaged when she comes) or is it better that a friends of hers who is nurse in UK is her sponsor? What is the most sound approach to obtain this Visa? Who ever is the sponsor she will be staying with me. My concern is will this make a difference as after this visit we will apply for Fiancé visa for her to come to UK. Both these applications will be completed in Dubai. Thank in advance for any support for this.
Hello John. We also live in Dubai and we were were just successful in obtaining a UK visit visa for my wife. It took 7 days from submission to receiving the visa, and that was not priority. In our case, she had adequate funds in her account but I sponsored her for the trip. In your case it's difficult to know for sure which would be the better sponsor, yourself or her friend, but my gut feeling is that it would be you, especially if you are planning a fiancé visa at a later stage. It would set the scene so to speak and add to the legitimacy of your relationship. The one thing that is very important is to show that she has valid reasons to leave UK after her visit. In your case, this can be a letter from the HR department of her employer stating that she works for them, will be leave for these dates, and after which she will return to her position in the company. Wishing you good luck with your application. David
Thank you for your advise. Yes I will be the sponsor her for the trip. The company she works for can write a letter also explaining that she works for them. I understand I need to write a letter stating the intention of the trip. This letter is to be addressed to the embassy? Do I also need to show another letter that I am formally inviting my partner to the UK?
That would just be the same letter. Don't worry about sponsoring her, if she works in Dubai she will easily get the visa.
We simply stated in the online application that the purpose of the trip was to visit my friends and family and for tourism. My wife doesn't work, so in order to preempt any issue with showing evidence of not overstaying, we submitted copies of the titles that she has a couple of lots of land in Philippines. If your GF is working and has letter from her employer, there should be no problem.
Tha . Thanks for the reply. So this is basically a letter to the Embassy stating that I am inviting my partner to the UK.....? Thanks in advance for your support.
Further advance needed regarding Bank Statments. My partner has been told she needs 6 months worth of bank stements to enable her to get a Tourist Visa to visit me. Unfortunately she was paid in cash until 4 months ago. She now has 4 months worth of bank statments. Is this going to cause her to have her tourist visa to be rejected? I am sponsoring her any way. As I have said previously she lives in Dubai. Also if our application is rejected, does this mean if we need to do a further application it will cost us a further £500. ? Any advice will be much appreciated!
Any one have any knowledge that if my partner only has 4 months worth of bank statements, then her Visiting Visa will get rejected? Even so I am her sponsor and she is living in Dubai? Thanks in advance.
Have a read through the link read the visitor visa it does say six months although it also says " you need to demonstrate that you can support yourself during through visit" has your gf got a bank account with savings in? Where will she stay?
