Germany may be the visible implementer of austerity in Italy, Greece and elsewhere but I suggest that behind the scenes, France is pressuring Germany. France's economy is pretty much in tatters thanks largely to its President and Prime Minister and it simply can not afford to co-fund the huge bailouts being requested and not least because the Euro Currency scheme was specifically designed to underpin the hugely expensive French welfare state.

Your key words " prior to Yolanda" sum it up. I wonder what odds you have on a Yolanda in 2014?

The basic flaw in the Euro Zone system was to highlight the disparity in living standards between countries.

It was sold to the populations as a "once we have the euro we will be as rich as and have the same living standards" as the larger ecomomies.

What it prevents in those countries is in times of trouble the ability to devalue as sovereign states thus rbalancing their debt burden.

When interst rates rise and they will, then the collapse will quickly follow.

As to dirty harry at least he is an honest immoral person, is that why you like him Mark?

In what respect - that the Philippines will be struck by super-typhoon next year? Fairly high, I would say. And I'll go so far as to predict that it will come right at the end of the typhoon season, just as monsoon changes.

Erm what does any of that have to do with Duterte?!

On what basis do you say he is immoral? Do you basis your opinion purely on speculation, hearsay and wholly-unsubstantiated claims put forward by others? Britain has a fine history of not condemning people based on an absence of corroborative evidence and is a principle I stand by.

You cant use Coron as an example to make your point as it proves the point I am making. LOL.

You say you believe there will be a super typhoon next year. Can you tell me the path it will take?

Because as you well know he is part of the same privilege as surrounds the Amputuan clan witnesses may be discourage by a bullet in the head.

"In the April 2009 UN General Assembly of the Human Rights Council, the UN report (Eleventh Session Agenda item 3, par 21) said, "The Mayor of Davao City has done nothing to prevent these killings, and his public comments suggest that he is, in fact, supportive."[5]

Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte responding to the reported arrest and subsequent release of a notorious drug lord in Manila is quoted as saying: "Here in Davao, you can’t go out alive. You can go out, but inside a coffin. Is that what you call extra-judicial killing? Then I will just bring a drug lord to a judge and kill him there, that will no longer be extra-judicial." [6]

He seems like a nice boy. Just the sort of Mayor you would want to meet down a dark alley.

Well I can as it's a point in agreement!

No, of course not! But I do think the odds are far greater for a direct strike on Luzon than on Mindanao. Of course all bets are off if the cold current from the north Pacific moves appreciably westwards which in turn relocates the typhoon spawning area.

One might say that the UK is becoming less "risk-free" given the fact that it's been battered by three serious storms in as many weeks with a further one forecast for the weekend. Not to mention the flooding which seems to have become an annual event come the summer.

Chalk and cheese. You can not even compare the two families, one of which, the Ampatuans, openly practices criminality, supports Muslim fundamentalism and who murdered many innocent people.

    The key word is "suggest".

Hearsay. The person reporting that did not hear those words from Duterte in person.

    Verdict: not guilty.

Sorry I stand corrected I was unaware a bullet in the head was not considered to be a crime in the Phils course National Socialism didnt think there was anything wrong with there policies either and even what you report on the Ampatauns is an allegation there not guilty either by your standards(nor likely to be found so any time soon):D

Big difference: there are eye witnesses who can testify against the Ampatuans.
