Cos I am not, but I have been looking at this soon to be released xbox game for my sons 14th birthday. To be honest I don't know what I would be buying. But currently Game are advertising it in 3 versions: Call of Duty: Black Ops II with Nuketown bla bla bla £44.99 Hardened Edition at £59.99 Exclusive Care Package at £159.99 Whats going on here? Why £159.99? Sounds a lot even for an xbox game....
Had an Xbox 360 (twice) and a PS3... Sadly, at the moment I am stuck with flash games Though in the New Year I do plan on getting a PS3 again, in time for GTA5
Am afraid that you won't have much time to play games, mate... Your mrs. will demand your undivided attention.... Or else....:closed:
Done. Bought him the so called "Hardened Edition", whatever that means and a Call of Duty BlackOps 2 T shirt, for his birthday from Play.com.
Call of Duty eh.. The sad thing about playing that game online is getting schooled by some child who is clearly too young to buy the game themselves
You mean as in its classified as an 18 and he is only 14? Or as in its embarrasing to be beaten by a kid? He lives in M32 by the way. I did too until the divorce.
This is all beyond me. I have no idea at all about these computer games/consoles. I have thought about it, on the presumption that I must be missing out on something. But I just don't know what current activities I drop. I work from home, totally computer based. But I can still watch/listen to the TV news and other programmes.
Yes, it is an ego killer to get destroyed in an adult video game by someone and then hear over the earpiece their mother demanding they go to bed... Stretford eh? Small world, that's where I grew up.
Your son will play a game only, which costs £50, me as a ex-gamer (I used to play games only on pc, not anymore now - no time) can't see any reason to spend £160 pounds on a game, which will last for couple of hours (single player mode) with optional multiplayer (eventually your son will be bored of it). Whether you spend £50 or £160 you will get exactly the same game (maybe extra multiplayer maps, some extras in the box, which are not worth all these money).
I dunno... Playing Grand Theft Auto 4 on single player was not the same as when myself and two of my friends went speeding round Liberty city (the in-game city) on a massive drive by!!! Online gaming takes things to a new level, but it also changes the rules a little bit. Likewise, a friend and I used to have great co-op modes on Rainbow 6:Vegas 2
Don't forget that multiplayer is highly addictive and we're talking about game for 14 year old lad who is very vulnerable and easy to get in to addiction of multiplayer mode.
I agree. Fortunately this lad is otherwise well anchored and has other pursuits including karate, football and music to keep the balance. His mother is pretty strict with him.
I see. Thanks. I didn't go for the expensive option. Yes, I did think £160 was just a tad over the top.
Karate eh? I would recommend moving him away from that form of self defence! Only a small amount of Karate teachers give anything close to real self defence skills, most of them teach Kata's and have pupils drilling away for hours on end these dead patterns. He doesn't have to go full pelt either and get something that will come in really handy, Brazilian Ju Jitsu is available now in Manchester and kids picking up that martial art are miles ahead of the competitiion, plus there is kids MMA..
Its a bit late now as he is a brown belt. But at least it keeps him off the streets and the xbox... I don't have a lot of say in the matter as he lives with his mother...
