there have been lots of problems will all the carriers into phil this year because of the change in the tax free rules put forward in dec 2016 and implemented aug 2017 . this required a lot more paperwork by both the shippers and agents in in manila, firstly you need to photo copy your passport main page and in / out stamps or phil. if you are sending new goods you need a copy of the receipt or invoice with the items highlighted . if used goods or home made goods then a reasonable valuation of each say what you would pay at a charity shop. take care not to send questionable items look at import restrictions on phil gov site. this includes camouflage style clothing even children's sizes ! medications can also be a problem.
there have been massive delays in manila because i am reliably told all boxes are now xray examined since the ruling not to open boxes. it is better to be honest about the contents and quantities as anything not matching the paperwork will be held up for further examination and that takes weeks! The new act has been suspended from oct 2017 but will be back in a reformed manner at the end of march 2018!!! this act and the preparation for it has meant extra costs for the shippers / agents and forwarders in extra registration , individual consignment paperwork , and importantly wharf storage fees which in many cases have been for over 5 weeks to clear customs because of the lack of correct full paperwork . I believe that boxes that do not have the current paperwork are assessed under the old rules and tax free allowance and may be surcharged if over the 10000 old tax free rate. these are also held back as priority is being given to correctly documented boxes. i spoke with one agent in manila this week and he had boxes that have been held up for 2 months now with no known release date! it appears also that the agents and forwarders in manila are billing the shippers in the uk for extra costs as much as 40% more and this can be many weeks after the boxes should have been delivered.
I have used BN Lilley cargo uk ltd for 6 years now nothing lost or damaged but Mavels estimate of how long it takes to get uk to cebu are very much wishful thinking ( but the same with other carriers) she will say 6/7 weeks but in reality and after haranguing manila customs and trans shippers 10- 12 weeks. she is also very difficult to get hold of as she is very very busy running things almost single handed. thing are getting better as her son is now on board working as the driver and is very reliable. we have built up a good re-pour with her and usually take our boxes straight to the warehouse to ensure they go in the next container.
i fear that over the next year or so things are not going to get any better in phil with customs wanting to protect and keep their jobs.
if you want any help in contacting mavel or any other help just message me stevew@corris.co.uk we send 2 large or extra large boxes every 6 months and are happy to use mavel.
    regards
    to all

I've yet to get a response from LBC , Fedex, and others, after asking for a (empty) box to be delivered to my house , for me to fill.

They must have plenty of business.

Anyone got a 'live' contact phone number ?

hi i have just sent my stepson a full size bike used bl lilley http://bnlilleycargo.com/ but had to take off wheels, saddle and handlebars , sent him a full cycle tool kit and spare inner tubes and a book on bike care. lilley large box is 35x22x22inch and extra large is 32x29x23. with regards to new rules on listing that come into effect for boxes arriving after lat week of march, if sending new goods include the till receipt and for second hand goods just be honest and use typical prices paid at charity shops. the extra paper work is going to delay boxes, the transshipping company lilley uses has also has increased his prices so expect the same will happen to all the other shippers they have us over a barrel saying its due to extra paper work. i am sending to cebu and whist always quoted 6 to 8 weeks for delivery, realistically 10 to 12 weeks is the norm. lilley will also send your larger boxes but it does cost quite a lot more. i sent 6 large solar panels in padded crate i made, it arrived safe and nothing damaged but took 12 weeks and was very very heavy 4 Filipino men to move ( 2 UK guys). have used lilley for 6 years now for family, house and school boxes. Paul the local guy in cebu is great and very helpful if you put delivery phone no and address on big label he will ring you to confirm delivery day. can recommend lilley but she can be difficult to get hold of at times just keep trying
