    HE died when he joined the army and the establishment . His music was never the same, became middle of the road. Rock music was saved by British bands who drew their early inspiration from Elvis.

    Such a shame, love his early stuff, and he had a few great songs later on. Didn't write much, wasn't a particularly good musician either - but his influence was immense.
