Thank you, will do, I'm quite meticulous so hopefully nothing will be missed :)

I was wondering about this as I am self-employed and the director of a ltd company, however I have an SA302 and meet the threshold of £18,600 so I'm hoping I won't have a problem there?

There won't be a problem you can use that to meet the financial requirement. Take time to read the Appendix FM 1.7 so you will understand it more and know which category to apply.

Self employed makes it a little trickier, as you have to submit more financial documentation but no big deal, don't worry :)

Below is just a rough outline of the financial information you will have to submit as a self employed person, the information comes from a successful applicant here on the forum (forgotten who). Just ignore the VAT if you are not registered. @Maharg will hopefully give you some guidance when you set out on the visa journey :)

    3. Regarding Financial requirement – Category F
3.1 HMRC CT600 corporation tax return
3.2 Certificate of incorporation of company
    3.3 Unaudited accounts
    3.4 Accountant certificate of confirmation.
3.5 Company bank account statements and covering letter.
3.6 Current appointment report from Companies House.
    3.7 Certificate of VAT registration.
    3.8 Latest VAT return.
    3.9 Payslips from company
    3.10 P60 from company
3.11 Personal bank statements of sponsor and covering letter
3.12 Dividend vouchers for all dividends
3.13 Letter from HMRC evidencing registration for PAYE

Pretty sure one year is ok. I always ssubmit 2 years but I'm probably being over-cautious.

You also need an accountant letter to confirm all earnings since the end of the previous tax year.

We have just been turned down for a visit visa for my wife although I own my own home in the U/K earn more than the settlement threshold they are saying because we don't own property here in the Philippines and my wife does not work because we have a young child they don't believe we will come back here, we have a rental home here our own furniture and have no intention of staying in the U/K full time i hate the winter weather, the worst thing is there is no appeal although I have my M/P following it up its a lost cause, they don't give you a chance to say all you need to say it is a bit of a con really.

That sucks, sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, many Filipinos really do overstay their visit visas so ECOs tend to be incredulous. It's ruthless but purity of intention doesn't matter - it's all down to how your application appears to them. Furniture is easy to dispose and you can terminate your lease anytime. Those don't help at all. What you need are strong ties - property and/or established career/business that you can't just leave. Since either isn't possible atm, I suggest consulting with a solicitor next time. People who have the same profile as your wife have been given visit visas before so it's definitely doable!

Will be applying for settlement visa the fees are outrageous but what can you do , its scandalous that wives cannot travel with their husbands for a holiday in the U/K with incurring no expense to the government coffers, absolute hypocrisy at its best.

i agree with your view about the visa fees---££ thousands over the 5 years...but we all had to cough up and smile.

i'm confused about your financials--are you saying you earn the required amount in the UK ?

Yes I earn more than the threshold but we applied for a visitor visa not a settlement one, now it seems to get a holiday in the U/K the only route is buy a property here which I do not want to do or get a settlement visa to take a holiday there , ridiculous situation whereby I have my own home on the U/K no mortgage, put a condition on the house in U/K if we don't return back here that is one solution, how the hell do you prove that you are coming back its your word against theirs.
Visitor visa 100 pounds settlement over 2000 bit of a difference there does anyone know which department actually looks at the visa application is it a Filipino worker assigned to the Ukgov or is it a British employee and where is it actually looked at?
Also the no appeal rule is very one sided.

Married Feb 3, then got my Marriage Cert from NSO last March 29. While processing our Documents ,we explain evert hing to our Local Registrar if we can get our Marriage cert Asap if Possible. Then we been told that YES WE CAN, but need to pay just only 500.00 pesos something (not sure the exact amount, as my aunt paid it to cashier) . Anyway, your wife should call to their LOCAL registrar and ask the update .

The settlement visa is going to cost you four times that amount over the five years it takes. And she will only be allowed to leave the UK for a limited number of days in that time.

No one knows for sure who looks at it in the Philippines but I would've thought a British employee assigned in Manila? Visit visas are decided in Manila only like settlement visa before but is now decided in Sheffield.

Is that what happens on a settlement visa? I thought you could come and go to the U/K if you had that, so how often can you come and go in the 5 Years?

It's cumulative over the 5 year settlement period. She has to demonstrate that the UK is her home base...not merely a holiday destination. I think she can average 90 days away per year over the 5 years. Hopefully someone else can corroborate.

If you plan to spend the bulk of your time together out of the UK..then a settlement visa is not for her...keep trying for a visit visa.
