Hi, I send a monthly amount to my wife, and have tried most services,
Just started to use Transferwise. https://transferwise.com/u/f175b

They have given the best exchange rate I have found and at cheap transfer costs.

Worth having a look at if you send money out to Phil.

Noticed the referral link. What's in it for you if someone signs up? :)

Only free transfer if people used it.
Not fussed on that. But worth checking the exchange rate they give.
I have been using worldremit and this is much better.

Looks like a good deal so far.

    What's the usual fee?

From time to time, we take advantage of sending for free with the code they email to us.

Just looked. To send £300 transfer wise it's £2.97 fee at rate 69.31
Worldremit is fee £5.99 at rate 67.95.

So to spend £300 = 500php more to receive

Just my finding with it. Worth a look if sending, always looking for the best rate

I have always been pleased with worldremit. But get the same email and text service with a better exchange rate.

I'm not an advert for them by the way. If I find a better rate and service I will us it.
But so far it's been fast and reliable.

I used World Remit two weeks ago. They were very speedy but the exchange rate wasn't great.

I'll give this lot a go. Cheers Luke

There are always three factors Andy :-

    1) The exchange rate
    2) The fee
    3) The amount being sent

Point 3 is simply because the true cost of the fee depends on the total amount being sent, send £100 and get charged .5 peso under the interbank rate but with a £9.90 fee as Western Union used to charge is simply not a good deal even though the exchange rate is pretty good.

In country most money changers will give you about 1.5 peso off the interbank rate which is generally not bad, WorldRemit operate at roughly that margin but also charge a fee of about £4.99 on a £100 pound transfer which is not too bad.

Transferwise I have known about for while but originally they didn't offer PHP as a currency, it looks like the fee's are 1% with a minimum fee of 145 peso https://transferwise.com/help/article/1570084/basic-information/how-much-does-it-cost

If that is real and nothing else is hidden then it is a genuinely fantastic deal.

Actually I wonder if I read it right, maybe it is 0.5% from GBP + 1% to PHP ?

    Still pretty good at that.

One last thing, they really are the people who built the original Skype, before Microsoft bought it and turned it into a steaming pile of poo :frust:

I always respected those guys the original Skype was a truly great Delphi application.

I've given it a whirl. It's a holiday tomorrow in Ph so it'll slow down the transfer.

This is the actual blurb on what rewards people get if they click the link https://transferwise.com/u/a7d10e:

    • To count towards your invite reward, each friend who signs up using your invitation has to complete a transfer for at least £200 (or its equivalent in another supported currency) to be considered as a qualified referral.

    • Friends using your link to sign up will have fees on their first transfer waived, up to £3000 in transferred amount (or its equivalent in another supported currency).

    • If your friends make a transfer for less than £200, their fee is still waived, but won’t count towards your qualified invites. If at any point in the future they complete a single transfer over £200 (previous transfer will not be cumulated), they will be included in the list of users who qualified to claim your referral reward.

    • The standard reward amount is +£15 in
fee credit (or equivalent), but the reward may vary in different regions, or during special promotional periods or campaigns. Different terms and conditions will be shown in the referral invitation or accompanying promotional materials.

I think that's fair enough. So what was that link again? https://transferwise.com/u/a7d10e . I think the OP posted the wrong link, how could he!!?!:lol::lol:

Anybody with Lloyds and doing transfers for cash-pickup with World Remit had any problems recently? Seems Lloyds may have upped their security.

I went with Orbit Remit in the end. £2.50 cheaper and a .7 better exchange rate.

    No problems here.

The problem with us occurred when I punched one of the card numbers wrong, resulting in an immediate block by Lloyds.
    Sorted immediately by text.

Understood. I cleared the card with Lloyds. I went back to the website and tried again but denied. Thing is when i initially attempted I was presented with the ClickSafe. After the card was cleared it disnt go to the Clicksafe page as though WR had checked my attempts and blocked their side. I talked online with one of their staff, got nowhere as she didnt understand. Went to OR and did a bank transfer to their Metro account, which is the safest way to do an overseas transfer even if slightly less convenient.
