My Wife's passport expires August 30th and we need to renew it for her visa extension application in October. I understand the Philippine embassy has been closed for some time so renewal appears to be impossible. We are not hopeful that UK immigration will be understanding and give her a six month extension even though I believe she qualifies as a key worker being employed as a carer in a residential care home. Have any other forum members found themselves in this position?
for info, the company your wife works for will need to identify her as a key care worker. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/...ensions-for-frontline-health-and-care-workers
See this link also, I think you are going to have to contact them on the email address and explain the situation https://www.gov.uk/government/news/...rrently-unable-to-return-home-due-to-covid-19
Thanks for the advice, my wife does have a letter from her employer stating she is a key worker so I will email immigration and explain the situation. Fingers crossed we get a positive reply.
Follow up on this for anyone wishing to renew a Philippine passport. The Embassy is now open for appointments only, we booked online and chose the time and day from available slots. We managed to book a parking space near Trafalgar Square and walked about 200m to the Embassy. I was not allowed to enter and my wife was required to wear a mask, all the staff were using PPE. The whole process took about 20 minutes and not a rioter in sight! I was expecting a nightmare so it was a pleasant surprise.
Used a company online to book the parking space £11.50 for three hours. Plus congestion charge. Could have been worse and solved our problem.
