Hi guys, I am putting together a list of songs/music that we silver surfers may know, but have forgotten about - music and songs that, in my opinion, are beautiful, unforgettable - yet we may have forgotten their beauty. There is so much to remember from the 50s, 60s and even the 70s that we know, remember, but maybe is in the recesses of our minds that it takes a 'jolt' to remember just how good it was. I may not be on this earth for too many more years, but you can bet I shall take songs like this with me - and not the dross that permeates the airwaves these days. If my thread displeases you, then please tell me - my only wish is to make people happy. Let me begin my trawl through 'forgotten treasures' with the angelic voice of Gene Pitney. BTW - this is from a vinyl album - don't you just love those 'scratches?' Al.
Well I always have to include this in my memories. Although until this thread I'd almost forgotten it's impact
Billy Fury spent quite some time in Northampton. I met him a few times and was very struck on what a genuinely nice person he was. It almost seemed to me that he was perhaps a little naive to be such a big name in the music industry. Sadly he left us far too early Here's one of my favourites:-
Fantastic contributions to this thread guys! My next one comes from a man whose voice is, quite frankly, amazing. Al.
Great song, great lyrics, great performance and a very unusual presentation of the written lyrics too This one's just too good not to include on any list. Pity about the spelling mistake........see if you can spot it
1964 I used to listen to all of these (in the next few posts) when I was having breakfast before going to school
