Taken with a Canon 7D and Canon 85mm f1.8 It could have been a little sharper but the bokeh shows lovely dreaminess in the background. Still looking forward to getting a Canon full frame to really see how this lens performs.
The 85 f.18 is a fantastic wee lens what was the shutter speed Mike, you've stripped the EXIF or your export stripped the EXIF so I can't tell (I do that too ). There's a lot of you in that face Mike, she's lovely!
1/250 f2.5 ISO 1600, Jim It was a screen grab of a raw file and exported to Flikr as a jpg. It was almost night and taken in a forest.
Was it the 7D, it's just missed focus the 85 would normally nail it, you would have been fine for camera shake at that speed, I've got a lot of shots like that myself where a camera just missed it by a tiny fraction. You did well to get 1/250 at that ISO at twilight well done! The 7Dii can be bad for that too sometimes.
Lots of people have said that the EOS R blows the 7D out of the water on focussing, Jim. I can only wish these days I did think "Bu$£er" when I saw the missed focus. I always shoot in manual, too.
Manual shutter and aperture Mike or do you mean MF focusing? My 13 year old 1Ds ii would get that shot pin sharp every time Mike, a 5D iii or 5D iv would hit it every time, I'm not denigrating the 7D it is a brilliant camera and I would happily have one, generally my 7D ii has been amazing as well but not as amazing as the much older 1Ds ii and my old original 1D, the 5D (classic) had 9 focus points and it would sometimes do what you have experienced but often it was my fault in some way but sometimes it was the camera not being good with peripheral focus points. The old EOS M and the EOS M5 are very good at focusing and averaging those passport pictures I posted today were taken on the M5 with a fairly cheap lens it's damn good for what it is, I still like my big cameras but the little mirrorless is good but even it gets the focus wrong sometimes. You can't assume that DPAF is better than PDAF, dual pixel AF is very good but it is not as fast as PDAF (Phase detect AF).
Manual shutter/aperture and ISO. Auto focus. I am never relaxed when I am with both the kids, Jim, my son is always running around acting the goat. My mind is never calm when the two kids are with me - it is always "daddy, daddy"
But it's fun The 7D and 7D mk ii are actually not necessarily the best cameras when it comes to shutter response, there is a delay between shutter button press and actual release, they both tend to rely more on the high frame rate and tracking AF for sports and birding when often for the likes of kids you want a very responsive short shutter release delay, you get that with the pro level camera's for single shot but the market for the 7 series was slightly different.
Today in another nature reserve where greenery is everywhere: Canon 7D camera with Canon 85mm f/1.8 lens. 1/125 f2.8 ISO 100 (Edited for crop, brightness, colour and clarity. )
Okay, so mine is following closely behind at 7, well 8 in October. They are each at a very ripe age for learning.
