Yet again UK immigration with no compassion and focus on easy pray...... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...deported-native-Philippines-visa-ran-out.html
I think this is the one Dom posted about the other day. I say send him back. We comply with the rules, why shouldn't he?
Mitigating circumstances are that some such people will have arrived here during more relaxed times. Unfortunately stricter times of the present day have not been kind . I have come across some for whom compassion has been applied, under not so different circumstances.
They had years at disposal to sort out the kid's immigration status, and they did sweet F.A. about it......... Sorry, run out of compassion....
I'm not sure they let anything slip, but I'm sure we don't get all the details from a newspaper story. Seems to me that he came here with his parents at age 20. Both his parents were British citizens, but as he is over 18 I don't think he could qualify as a child as he is too old. In which case they had no options to grant him residency so relied on Student visas for him to be here. I may be wrong, but I'm not sure if there are options to transfer to residency from a Student visa. In which case it does seem a bit harsh bearing in mind his mother was a British citizen when they came here. Having said that, though, it seems he must have overstayed his visa, which wasn't the cleverest thing to do. What were the options they had that could have granted him permanent residency?
What were the options they had that could have granted him permanent residency? what all the others do--marry a brit.
whether i approve is irrelevant. its been happening for many years--and no doubt will continue. adult foreign nationals want to come to live in the UK--for whatever reason---and UK immigration policy has made it the only way for most of them to achieve what they want.
This is another example of Theresa May's desperate search for the UKIP vote resulting in the Borders Agency picking the "low hanging fruit" - the easy cases. What was the POINT of splitting this family up? What has it achieved? I understand the "rules are rules" argument. I am sure it is always put forward by people who have never had a parking ticket and who have always declared any odd bits of income, so they are in an ideal position to cast the first stone. I am not such a paragon of good citizenship.
