STRIKER Moise Kean, MF Jean-Philippe Gbamin, MF Andre Gomes, MF Fabian Delph and Keeper Jonas Lossl Feeling a little more positive now. Be good to get Zouma from Chelsea to solidify things but that could be difficult with Chelsea's transfer ban.
In all honesty, those signings have all the hallmarks of a team aiming for mid-table. Delph and Lossl are just squad players. I don't trust Italian strikers to be prolific in the Premier League, so no big hopes that Kean will do much more than 10 goals. Nobody knows Gbamin. Gomes is a tidy player. One more good season at Everton and he'll probably be looking to move on. Sorry for the negativity. If they can get Zaha from under Arsenal's nose, it would be a good buy.
That is a fair precis of the situation. Evertonians are very buoyant since Brands became director of football because his moves in the transfer market seem to be hitting the right note after the debacles prior to his arrival. Toffees keep their fingers and toes crossed that he and Silva deliver and gets us into the top six on a regular basis. I think he will but it is apparently a project which ties in with the new stadium. Top four is what we are aiming at. This young samba dancer looks promising: https://www.toffeeweb.com/season/19-20/rumour-mill/38338.html
The word is amongst my Evertonian work buddies is that Silva and his team must have a good start to the season, and nothing less than top half at Christmas will do. A lot of divided opinion on the streets up here.
Watched this last night very funny as a Colchester Supporter in my youth it struck home enjoy https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0007gq8/giantkillers-the-team-that-wouldnt-die
Everton are firmly entrenched in their comfort zone, midtable, they have been for years. They would have got somewhere higher if greed had not taken over and, maybe, kept Rooney for a couple more seasons. May the best team win.
Everton weren't able to keep Rooney when he was first at the club as they were in financial dire straights. The second time he was very average and was distracted by totty in Wine Bars. We have some spondoolies now, and a good director of football at the helm, so we are more positive. But, as you say, may the best team win.
Looks like Rooney's going to Derby County on a player/coach role when his contract ends with the American team.
Social media having a laugh at the Toffees’ expense for their transfer window exploits. Failed bids for Smalling and Iwobi show the same ambition as a kid applying to do a Film Studies degree at the Polytechnic. Can only assume Palace think Big Willy Zaha is valued at £150m plus Sigurdsson.
One more day to go yet! Oh ye of little faith If we can shake off the three in the photo, that would be great. Maybe Zaha and Sidibe to arrive also, I can't keep up with it all We will finish in the top six this year, maybe even above City and Liverpool Hold on to your hats.
Well, sorry, finishing above City and Liverpool was a bit tongue-in-cheek Top 4 is the next step though. Not wildly optimistic when considering the last 10 results from last season which included 5 of the "big six": 03/03 H Liverpool 0:0 09/03 A Newcastle 2:3 17/03 H Chelsea 2:0 30/03 A West Ham 2:0 07/04 H Arsenal 1:0 13/04 A Fulham 0:2 21/04 H Man Utd 4:0 27/04 A Crystal P 0:0 03/05 H Burnley 2:0 12/05 A Spurs 2:2 Not too shabby......and strengthening/pruning the squad now
Another statement of (mid-table) intent from the Toffees. Shame. The French lad they've picked up on loan could be promising. But Rojo is just another player to go on rotation. Surely the scouts could have found an exciting talent out in Europe?
Alex Iwobi, Jonas Lossl, Djibril Sidibe, Andre Gomes, Fabian Delph, Jean-Philippe Gbamin, and Moise Kean shows intent but we didn't buy a proven striker and centre half so the push for top four is delayed somewhat. I hope Mina steps up but it would have been handy to get Zaha. IMO Everton will improve on last season's position (8th) but not by much. The "project" is still on track and the new stadium is part of that.
Football Manager isn't the best predictor. I think he's a good player who would not have moved had the incident with the crowd not taken place. I think he'll do well.
