A few minutes ago I read of the passing of one of our members, he was not very active here but he joined us at the request of Andrew (Methersgate) and had not posted here for a very long time. He was a writer and a man with vast experience of the Philippines and other Asian countries. I just wanted to post to recognise his passing. http://www.british-filipino.com/index.php?members/bobcouttie.783/ https://www.facebook.com/bob.couttie
I remember this guy on here. He also used to write for gCaptain amongst others on maritime accidents and of course oil rigs and related vessels come under that umbrella. I use some of their material from time to time.
RIP Mr. Couttie. I had contacts in the oil business who knew him although I never met or chatted to him myself.
Another (possibly verboten) member here, Whippy, also passed recently. Didn't see it mentioned here. I was looking through some of his old content and he was quite polarising but awfully entertaining.
Where did you find that out? The Whippy guy was supposedly quite young late 30s or 40s from the Sheffield area. Yeah he was banned and many aliases were banned.
My impression with Mr Whippy is that he got picked on a bit by a few members. It seemed to me people jumped to conclusions without any substance behind them. Not sure if that’s true. It came across that way.
I remember him and his aliases, seems ages ago that he was banned. Can't remember if he had any connection to the Philippines or not.
While I do defend thread drift on here I think in this case I will start another one regards this bloke, I should not have responded to PorkAdobo in this thread on this topic but I would like to respond to your points and to PorkAdobo's news and to MatteCube's question. Give me a wee while and I will start another one.
