Hi Guy's My wife arrived in the UK on a Spouse visa on the 14/04/14. I understand now that she will have to apply for the BRP before she applies for her FLR but my question is as we are going back to the Philippines this coming December to see her family will she need to apply for the BRP before we go back to the Philippines this year. I am thinking after our visit to the Philippines if she does not have a BRP she will not be allowed back into the UK? Thanks...... Kev
there are still many people with valid visas without brp I dont know if you can voluntarily apply for one but normally every new application will mean biometrics being taken and a brp being issued in the mean time nothing has changed as far as I know
Could you not apply for the FLR in person before you go to the Philippines or do you intend to apply using the postal service? You can apply 28 days before your visa expires I believe.
Yea... I was thinking the same. I was not sure if you can voluntarily apply for one until i seen this. 1. Overview You must have a biometric residence permit (BRP) if you want to: apply to come to the UK apply to extend your visa or settle in the UK transfer your visa to a new passport apply for certain Home Office travel documen https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...nce-permits-applicant-and-sponsor-information Its all very confusing right now.. Kev
Hey Timmers, Daisy's visa does not run out until 25/12/16 so we have plenty time to worry about that. I was just thinking does she need the BRP before we go on Holiday this coming December..., I was just thinking maybe they will not let her back into the UK after our hoiday if she does not have the BRP card
Great news, nothing to worry about then Kev, she can get the BRP then. She will have her visa stamped in her passport, no need for the BRP
Its just 1 year this very month since Daisy arrived here in the UK. I have totally been avoiding looking at immigration websites for the last year as it was so hard on my head! I feel its time I got my head back into it! My wife I think will also have to sit another English test before her first FLR as the test she done in the Philippines was the TOEIC. Cheers Kev
We had to do the same, Kev. My wife had to retake hers for the same reason for her Citizenship application.
Hey John, Thanks again!! I have been off the map for about the last year as i said. Thank you again for the reassurance!!! Daisy's visa expires on the 25/12/2016. Can she do another English Test anytime now or do the tests expire after a certain length of time?? Cheers... Kev
I would surmise anytime. But check that the test certificate has longevity. In our case we just had to get it done, otherwise the citizenship application would have been refused. So we were not concerned about any possible expiry time. I think Grahams wife has to resit the test too. Same reason i.e. TOEIC test became invalid. Grrrr
