Hi to all! We are planning to get married on July 2015, but as early as now, me and my fiancé wants to gather all docs. we will need. The first thing to do is to apply for affirmation/affidavit of marital status. My question is....when he need to apply for this? Can he do this thru online? Or he really need to be here in the Philippines personally to do that, and how soon? If we will get married on July 2015? I will wait for your inputs. Thx in advance....
The Affidavfit/Affirmation of Marital Status is what you need to obtain from the British Embassy as is needed as part of the requirements for the Marriage License issued by the Local Civil Registrar.
Do you have to turn up in person? Or can it be ordered on line or can a friend go to the Embassy for you?
You must book an appointment online and you must appear in person. A Consular Officer will witness your signature to the document and it, together with a covering letter addressed to the LCR explaining the change from CNI to Affidavit/Affirmation, will be handed to you before you leave.

Thx Markham! When my fiancé should do this? We are planning to get married on July2015? I don't want him to go and forth, can he do this few weeks before the wedding?
I need to be careful on doing our itinerary, coz he will be only here once....weeks before the wedding and will stay a month after we got married. So, as early as now I need to arrange this, so everything will go smoothly. I found out that, marriage license cert. is only valid for 120days. Those who had same experience same like mine...kindly guide me from the scratch. Thx in advance bf friends!
1) Since he will be staying longer than 30days, he will need to get visa. 2) He needs to arrive in philippine with all necessary originals and copies of required documentation. https://www.gov.uk/government/uploa...he_Philippines_leaflet_as_of_23_June_2014.pdf Birth cert, Prepared affidavit/affirmation (whichever one you chose), divorcee confirmation (if applicable) (1 x copy for embassy + 1 x copy for philippine Local Registration Office) 3) You need to obtain all necessary philippine documentation, NSO Birth cert, Cedula, CENOMAR (valid only 120 days), annulment (if applicable), other documents if under age 25, etc 3) UK Fiancee Books online appointment for Embassy (that can be done anytime in the future) He will receive confirmation e-mail 4) He Visits Embassy (with his and your paperwork) Philippine National can also attend. 5) Philippine Local Registration Office (marriage licence application) Commence application / attend pre-wedding counseling / complete application 6) 10 Working Days later collect marriage license (valid 120 days) 7) provide marriage license and any other documents requested to solemnizing officer before wedding day. 8) Then get married....... All listed in http://www.british-filipino.com/ind...-engaged-to-get-a-visa.9612/page-3#post-64648
Yep, unless there are holidays during that time. or someone objects to the marriage if its parents permission needed and they object, i think you can still marry after 3 months?????
If you want Philippine LRO to take only one day, check what days they do pre-marriage counseling . Where we registered, pre-marriage counseling was tuesday and thurdays only. Because of national holiday on friday, there was only counseling on tuesday. So flew in sunday, embassy monday, LRO tuesday and didn't need to sit through pre-marriage counseling , because of age and sweet talking the officials. There were many young philippine couples waiting for counseling and they looked terrified it is worth allowing some slack, as anything could cause official offices or embassy to close.
Thx one world! I will do the same...the affirmation/affidavit of marital status can get with in the day, right?
Yep, takes about two hours (we spent about the same amount of time waiting in the embassy). As soon as confirmed flight, i booked embassy appointment online about 3 months in advance. I flew in April to register marriage, sort out wedding ceremony arrangements, then returned in May to get married. In the Embassy, you will be in a common area and be called over to hand over documents and pay fee to an Embassy Administrator, then a little later you will be called to enter a room , where UK fiancee will swear oath to consular official (philippine national can be present), then afterwards the affidavit or affirmation (whichever you chose to provide) will be handed back by the Embassy Administrator (the seal has been added). Then its complete and you can leave. The earliest you attend appointment, the soonest you can leave.
I am going to the embassy in Manila this December to make the affirmation. You have to take your own affirmation document with you to sign, but the embassy website has a template. And you must book at the embassy in advance but I think this can be at short notice if you are desperate. When I booked I had to do this by e-mail as the on-line booking was not working. This new system replaces the old one where the embassy would issue a CNI upon sight of a UK-issued CNI. I am still worried that the new system may not be acceptable at Cebu LRO so I have obtained a UK-issued CNI and am in the process of getting it 'legalised' by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) I will take the legalised CNI to the embassy (as well as the affirmation document) in the hope the embassy will re-legalise the CNI, just in case the Cebu LRO will not accept the affirmation.
When I visited the Embassy, the CNI process had just stopped. I had CNI and they simply kept the CNI and processed the affirmation only. I left with only affirmation. They give a copy of NSO memorandum that was issued in 2013 informing all offices of new change. http://www.british-filipino.com/ind...-engaged-to-get-a-visa.9612/page-3#post-64648
I believe all civil registrar offices here in the Phil's.are all aware now of the changes from CNI to affirmation, sinced it was mandated by NSO already.
The problem is that when my Fiancée went to the LCR, they said they needed a CNI! Of course it may be they were just using old terminology but they do make up their own rules; for example - we will both have to attend a seminar even though we are well over the age of 25!
