I saw this movie a good few years ago. And I liked it. I was googling Steely Dan and Steeleye Span :D and came across this song from Hair. It had some further significance for 3 reasons:

1] It depicts the Americans going off to war with boots on the ground (with Syria a little in mind)

2] It (the cemetery scene) reminded me of the american cemetery in Manila.

3] They were going off to fight in Vietnam, a neighbour of the Philippines.

I've not watched that film for many many years but I remember growing up with the album in the house, my sister had bought it and had seen the stage show in London when she was a student in the late 60's, it was a great musical.

As I recall, cleverly done. The only musical I ever actually saw was a version of Jesus Christ Superstar in Manchester. It was very good. I generally don't tend to like them but there were certainly some exceptional ones each with some iconic songs.

I'm not a great fan of the film because it changed too much from the stage show. I went to see it on stage as a kid with my parents and had a sort of lifetime Hair obsession for years.

When it returned to the West End in 2010 I went and saw it many times during the run and loved it so much. I loved it, and I think it cured my longing to see it again after about the 10th visit!

I know what you mean. But it will come back to you at some point. I had the same thing happen with the Beatles songs, for example. Heard them too many times so didn't listen to them for eons. And then a couple of years ago I started listening to their stuff again with renewed appreciation.
