Guys two weeks ago I had a virus very likely a Coronavirus it was crap and lasted a week I got better, it's been two years since the last one, this time I realised quickly and I probably didn't pass it on to any of my colleagues. Coronaviruses are everywhere we all get them all the time. When they mutate we all get unlucky, the mutation can happen in any species that harbours these viruses and that includes humans. Sometimes these viruses can spread in water droplets for example through being close to someone sneezing or coughing sometimes they don't spread very easily, that all depends on the specific variant at the time it emerges, nothing we can do will ever stop these viruses emerging and if one spreads easily then in an interconnected world it will never be easy to contain. The media are starting to use the term Coronavirus as a name for this specific outbreak as if that is what this specific one is called, it is not the name of a specific mutation it is the name of a family of viruses, that misuse of a name which I have heard tonight on Newsnight is going to demonise that name and isn't helping people to understand what this outbreak actually is.
