We have a UK Visa for 6 months. We wish to go to Europe after to travel a bit. I'm British, GF is pinay, can we apply for a schegen Visa while she is in the UK ? Seems crazy if we have to fly back to the other side of the world just to apply. As I side not we applied for her UK Visa while in Singapore and did the appointment there no problem.
Yer it's a visit visa. So we have to fly to Singapore to apply seems silly. Maybe there's a closer country I'll have to research.
Schengen zone will not accept visa application from country where she does not have residence. That’s why she won’t get visa from uk as she only has visitors visa. If she has residence visa for Singapore then try from there.
Ah she doesn't so will have to fly to Philippines! Crazy. It's been a few years since we've been there. So it's different from UK visa where you can apply from anywhere.
'If you must apply for a Schengen visa in a country where you are not a resident, the justification why you are applying from that country will suffice.' That's what it says on schengenvisainfo.com
Ok the reverse plan maybe better next time. Does anyone know if you can apply for the UK visitor visa while in a the EU on a Schengen visa ?
Ollie, the UK is not part of the Schengen area but has a common agreement with European states allowing free movement of EU citizens and likewise the EU reciprocates the free travel movements of UK residents within their member states. The rules are therefore slightly different in some areas of the way non EU residents maybe treated You will note that on the site you quote in the paragraphs how to apply it does high light in bold that people in the UK on a visitor visa must apply for a Schengen visa from their country of residence, the subject is also covered on the UKGOV website and advises the same.
So we can apply from random country's but not from European countries for the UK visitor visa. Past two UK visitors visas we got while in Singapore on holiday.
My understanding is you can get the visa in uk as long as she had more then three months on it - why not take her to Israel as no visa requirement
