They do have a habit of doing well up to the start of a tournament then failing...… Most people I have spoken to have already written them off. They are not being negative but everyone has had the positivity sucked out of them for 50 years
Enjoyed the match tonight , decent performance disrupted for a while by the second half substitutions , but good atmosphere and a positive result . Cracking shot by Rashford . Now we moved on to the serious stuff .
Well, back on thread, all the England flags are up in the street across the way. And pretty smart they look too. I tried to coax my wife to buy a flag in Poundland today but she isn’t interested one iota. Official Promo clip:
Described as the sleasiest event since the 1936 Berlin Olympics, here's the Spoiler: iconic image of Russia's World Cup!
Pretty poor role model, but let's keep the thread in broad terms within predictions for example I am predicting England to beat Brazil 3 _ 0 in the final.
Very odd marketing in my view, and I understand the play on bb and 66 but there were 11 players on the pitch, it wasn' all about Bobby Charlton
I see you caught onto that quite fast. You might have also noticed that there was also more than one Bobby involved. ‘Bobby’ is a light blonde British beer dedicated to World Cup-winning England captain, Bobby Moore and, in a nod to the 4-2 score of the 1966 final, has an ABV of 4.2%. Emily Prince, senior brand manager at Greene King, said: “Bobby Moore’s appeal goes beyond team affiliations and we believe ‘Bobby’ can be the definitive football beer, whoever your punters support.” The beer was developed in conjunction with creative agency Brandpool and the producers of the movie Bobby, which launched this summer and honours the iconic player. The film tells the story of the life of Bobby Moore through his family, friends and fans, including Pele, Sir Geoff Hurst, Harry Redknapp, Ray Davies, Ray Winstone and Russell Brand, mixed with previously unseen archive footage. So the blurb goes. I suppose the marketing might not appeal to some.
52 years it took me What the brand person really meant is probably something very different! I remember Bobby Moore for the world cups of 66& 70 other events in Mexico ( I know he wasn't charged) but the captain should have more about him than put himself in that position. The film Escape to Victory ( b rate movie) but after that not a lot else. Now the great Sir Bobby, probably over the years one of the greatest ambassadors of football there you have a true legend, but hey HO to marketing bods he maybe a little bit boring. Does the marketing of this brand in this instance appeal to me? Not one jot.
Hmmm ... any worse, I wonder, to that portrayed by the mass murderer hosting the event? Your prediction, whilst being nice and patriotic, is, I fear, overly optimistic and beyond the bounds of realism. A cynic might suggest that Russia will win.
It doesn’t matter to me that much either. I am a football fan and find many aspects of the game both past and present interesting. It’s as interesting to see the negative responses to Bobby Moore as the positives. And also interesting to see your response to the posting of the Bo66y brand. My other connection to Bobby Moore is that a relative of mine knew him very well. He tells a different story to yours. And then football has been his career and still is. Whilst there is a nagging doubt in my mind too, I know whose opinion and testimony I would sooner go with.
Unfortunately you may yet turn out to be right. It may all have a great impact on the outcome of the tournament, rendering prediction difficult.
