@Geoff, can i ask you--why do you want to meet a filipina particularly ? given the difficulties they face even getting a visit visa ? and dont get me started on those that have been married previously.
[QUOTE = "Mattecube, Beitrag: 165846, Mitglied: 2671"] Ich weiß! [/ QUOTE] As you seem to know everything about me, maybe you should answer Big Mac
Intrigued by this, I asked my all knowing wife about this and she said that in The Philippines, everyone says it is better to have a bank account if you are trying for a tourist visa. It will make you look more financially secure and if you use an agency they will tell you to open one. So it makes perfect sense for the lady Geoff is chatting with to have been told this. There's a lot of judging her here from people who know nothing about her. Geoff, and only Geoff, is the one in a position to judgevwhethervhe trusts her or not. Follow your heart and take risks. If I hadn't done that I wouldn't be married to my true soul mate now.
Valid points but one has to remember that this is a forum and you always get opinions offered from a poster who offers advice and invariably thinks that their trodden path is the correct one or disagrees with the OP because their path differs from their own view. I think Geoff knows his own mind and makes sure those posters do too. As you say, you live once so take it by the horns and don’t look back, you may regret you didn’t. Can’t Geoff say he will financially support the entire stay and the financial bit isn’t then so much of an aspect of the application?
When we applied for a visit visa for my wife, the application asks for details of the applicants finances, including bank statements etc., even if the trip is being financed by somebody else, so yes it will make a difference. However, she will need a lot more than a bank account to succeed. The UK insist on seeing evidence of compelling reasons for her to return and not overstay.
Thank you for your reply and answering my question and not telling me like many others that I am being scammed. I will make that judgement not others.
@Geoff --thinking ahead--how easy was it for the previous lady to get a visa to visit germany ? is it something you would consider doing again ?
Thank you so much for your reply which I greatly appreciated. It was refreshing that someone actually addressed the question and not just told me I was being scammed by someone they know absolutely nothing about. When I was on this site last time I received so much help and advice from members but this time is very different. My lady friend had been told it was a good idea to have money in a bank account and she merely asked if I thought it was a good idea or not. She NEVER asked for any money and yet many on here are ready to condemn her without knowing any of the facts. Thank you for restoring my faith in the forum.
@bigmac after being told how difficult it would be to get visa for the first lady it turned out to be very easy. I merely told them I would pay all the expenses, she had no bank account and no compelling reason to return and she was granted a 3 month visa at the first attempt. Maybe for Germany is easier than the UK. As to why I want to meet a Filipina, it is not that it must be a Filipina, I just wanted to meet an asian lady and when i started looking there seemed to be many more Filipinas than others and that is why I am here.
The first one came to me in Germany and that is the hope for the current lady so I have not had to try and travel.
thats what i was alluding to. meet on neutral ground. visit visas to the UK are just a pain in the arris.
Worth pointing out that in his initial posts a year ago, Geoff detailed how he has left the UK, and has been living in Germany for (now) 17 years. His home is now in Germany, so easy to forget these things.
Yes and add to that that he is not German but a (non-German) EU citizen who can exercise their Treaty Rights. Were he to be German, he'd probably find it just as difficult to obtain a Visit Visa for a non-EU as Brits do in respect of their Filipina partners to visit them in the UK. And if he gets to the stage where he intends to marry a Filipina, he simply applies for a Family Reunification Visa which is free of charge, issued within 10-15 days and has minimal requirements - no multi-kilo piles of paperwork required!
Wow some good news at last. Thank you for your comments. Would you be kind enough to point me in the right direction? Presumably this is through the German Embassy in Manila. That would then enable me to marry in Germany which I understand is not that simple. My ladyfriend would obviously need to learn some German if we married but do you know if she must be tested on her language when applying for a family reunification visa? Again thank you so much such positive news.
