my wife has started filling her next balik box--its being collected october 6th. we hit poundland today. 20 toblerones 24 tins spam 12 bars dove soap. 5 toothpaste pumps. we can still see the bottom of the box. several jars instant coffee next. any suggestions what to get to fill the damn thing ?
got some i love london tee shirts coming--for her son. dunno about crisps though ! thats an awful lot of air going in the box.
Large selection of Dewalt power tools. DJI Phantom 4 drone with 4 extra batteries. 2000 pcs of Yorkshire tea bags. 12 pieces of Colemans mustard. 100 pieces of Pepperami sticks. 20 jars of Marmite. As many old I Phones as you can find to top up box. (unlocked)
Not sure Id stick a £1k+ drone in a box, might never see it again. My nephew has had a few DJIs including the Phantom 4. The latest one he has has a 7km range he claims, mind boggling. They are fantastic boys toys though.
In my case........... ACE Tool-chest with tools approx 50kg (not too sure if there is a weight restriction) Smaller tool case with hand tools Angle Grinder Bench Grinder Electric Drill set Electric blower Karcher High Pressure Washer Dismantled metal shelving Lodspeakers and Audio System Karaoke machine Books CD's DVD's Clothes
Dont think there is but I reckon there may well be tax issues if a foreigner sends stuff because of new rules.. We will see.
In the last 10 years,no worries..Never a box opened and Ive had 1000`s of UK Pounds value sent.. This year though??? As my last post above..Who knows?
i really think she should send heavy or bulky stuff thats a lot more expensive over there--to save her baggage allowance on her trip over.
added to the list: a zimmer frame ( dismantled ) --i kid you not. several pairs of branded trainers--different sizes for different cousins. all bought from a discount shop in gunwharf quays , pompey yesterday. several wristwatches refill packs of coffee. packs of dried pasta. more spam more toothpaste pumps. various other chocolates. a rechargeable shaver set. tee shirts. various hand me down garments. adidas string bum bags. the box is now nearly full. i cant shove it--yet alone attempt to lift it. never again. a bank transfer next time.
I dont know many Pinoys who require a shaver Zimmer Include a screwdriver to reconstruct it You’re right a transfer is so much easier but love and effort is contained in that box.
I will be filling mine mainly with (good quality) stuff I already own, and that would cost me a lot of money to buy over there, if I could in fact find equivalent items.
"Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) will no longer have to submit a proof of purchase for items inside balikbayan boxes sent to the Philippines, as the Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Thursday said it suspended such guidelines for the meantime. In a statement, the BOC said it suspended both Customs Administrative Order (CAO) 05-2016 and Customs Memorandum Order (CMO) 04-2017 until March 31, 2018. "The BOC has temporarily suspended the guidelines in the implementation of the duty and tax-free privilege of consolidated balikbayan boxes, following the upsurge of criticisms among overseas Filipino workers," it said. Under both CAO 05-2016 and CMO 04-2017, Filipino citizens who send balikbayan boxes to the Philippines are required to submit a photocopy of their Philippine passport to avail of the government's tax exemption. They are also required to provide a copy of the invoice, receipt, or proof of payments of the goods contained in the balikbayan box. Previously, such requirements were not needed for OFWs to qualify for the tax exemption, as long as shipments did not exceed a value of P150,000. "Although it is our duty to facilitate customs clearance of balikbayan boxes, we cannot set aside the sentiments of our fellow Filipinos abroad," Customs Commissioner Isidro S. Lapeña said. "With the suspension of the current procedure on balikbayan box, the previous regulation will be enforced," he added. —Jon Viktor D.
