    Hello Everyone.
My friends call me Trendy. I was in Manila back in 2015 and loved the place.
Am based in London. Please could you tell me the cheapest way to make a phone call to the Philippines mobile from my mobile phone. The person I am calling does not have access to whatsapp or viber or a computer. They just have a basic phone. I have managed to get International calling card . Even they are very expensive.
Would really appreciate someone's help on this. Best Regards

    Hi Trendy, Welcome aboard.

I am a bit out of touch with call costs, I always used Skype from my laptop to call a Philippine mobile phone.

Sure that somebody else will be able to suggest other alternatives.

Phone call might be expensive way to do it and its the least favored by most pinoys. The person you want to call should have a smart phone (survey says 85% kf pinoys have them). Im sure nearly everyone has a fb messenger app in their celfone and the social media package is cheap. (my sister gets 1G data for a monthly plan of php300 that allows us to talk fb messenger every week).

Agreed - My wife and I spoke for hours every day on Facebook Messenger, all free of charge if she was in a wi-fi zone

It has been quite a while....

We used to chat on Yahoo messenger, and listen to music at the same time, and the bonus was that i could have printed the chat logs to present as evidence

Thank you guys...The only problem is that this person(lives in the province) only has a basic phone and has no computer or a smart phone. I have been on the phone many times and it is costing me a fortune. Have started communicating by emails, but she has to go to her friend's house every 4 or 5 days to access her friend's computer and reply. Thank you all for your guidance. Just started looking at this forum and it really helps.

Never used Lebara myself but they do appear to offer reasonably priced plans to call the Philippines.

When Kris was still in Phils we - like others - used Skype / FB messenger / What's App - all free of course if one has access to the internet.

    Good luck.

Could be worth investing in a cheap smartphone for her. Some cheap and cheerful ones on lazada.com.

Welcome here Trendy! I agree to Stupot 10...maybe you can buy a non expensive smart phone that she can use, include a wifi packet too. I am sure, it will cost you less, than calling her thru long distance calls..

Even she's in the province, I am sure she can access internet, thru the help of prepaid sim card, wifi packet and smart phone. There are many promos, like the one I am using,Globe.I have unlimited internet for 5 days, for only 200 Philippine Peso...Fairprice right?
