Lately, my computer has been acting mad! Everytime I open a page and then click on it it always opens a new tab and all sorts of advertisements. Is it a virus or something? I googled it but not sure what to do. H E L P
Have you downloaded and installed anything since it happened? A program, a browser add-on... anything at all? Do you have a reputable AV and done a scan? Do you have something to detect malware (malwarebytes for example) and remove it? If no then you can get them free to probably resolve it. Just download something reputable or you may be making the issue worse.
Was that before or after I connected to the laptop on Sunday Glenn? It is likely to be a browser highjack script.
I got him to install TeamViewer on Sunday so I could take a look at his damaged external drive, but that would not cause this kind of thing.
Check you search engines. You have downloaded an app somewhere. usually comes from a software download site
I remember disabling my AVG protection for a day, that's all. Not installed anything. I don't think the AVG is doing me any good
No Jim it was way before that. That's why I don't use my laptop recently because of the crazy pop-ups and all sorts of rubbish.
Yeah I don't think AVG is doing you any good either, some of these anti-virus programs are getting to be as bad as the bleedin viruses.
i paid to have my laptop cleaned last year. over 2000 virus were found. i was advised to be very careful what i downloaded-------especially if i had to click on any agree boxes--that lets all the bad guys in through the back door. (if you'll pardon the expression )
Which browser is it that you are using, I seem to remember you had Chrome open? Windows 10 is very secure, but of course nothing is invulnerable.
I have my laptop cleaned too when I came here last year and they advised to upgdate my laptop to Windows 10 from 7. I don't have problems about it, until recently.
Avira http://www.avira.com/ It is not too overweight, but in general I don't like running anti-virus saying that I have Avira on the PC I am using right now and it has been fine, they have a free version.
Windows 10 is a much better operating system than Windows 7. Again which Browser are you having the problem with?
It can be something quite subtle these days and the user doesn't realise the consequence of the action. I have seen some well crafted emails of late in work. No not a Nigeria suggesting that he has 9 million US dollars if you give him your bank details
windows 10 kept asking me to install--which i ignored. then one day--my laptop did it anyway. at least my wireless printer worked properly after--for a change.
