Does anyone here know how much money (philippine peso) am i allowed to put on a wise card when traveling into Philippines? I have seen your not allowed to take more than 50,000 peso but am unclear if that's referring to physical cash only or if that limit applies to the wise card also. I also want to say, i read on the wise website a spending limit of 4000 GBP a month is in place... I need more than that and have already transfered it to my wise card.. in peso's. For example, if i have put 10 grand in peso on my wise card am i not going to be able to access it all, and will i even be allowed to take that much. I have to fill out my egovph travel declaration like tomorrow and have only just this minute seen about these limits online.
I believe the amount on wise is limitless the 50,000 pesos limit is hard physical cash, we always use wise but we dont always put huge amounts on the card normally a couple of hundred pounds at a time in case it is cloned in a machine etc or worse, we transfer to wise during our holiday Yes Wise appears to set a monthly spending limit Edit It looks like 50000 pesos is a limit so I would ensure you dont exceed that limit and transfer from your UK bank onto wise whilst you are there
Ok. Thanks for replying so quickly. Saved me allot of stress. Still not sure about the egovph travel declaration though. I was watching youtube vid and it refered to declaring peso in any sense.... like as in on a card like wise or such. I guesz i'll just have to go through the process tomorrow and hope for the best because i appreciate asking for advice regarding filling out areas of the egovph app is a bit unrealistic seeing as most folks probably don't do it often enough to know it inside out. Cheers Mattecube.
So i can only put a max of 50,000 peso on my wise card before entering Philippines? That's seems rediculous.
It looks that way, what's the issue with transferring some from your UK account into Wise once your there, to my mind its safer to do transfers as you go along. If you get mugged, lose your card, card is compromised you lose the lot
It's not an issue bar the fact i already added what i figured i'd need to the card. Just seems a low limit. But you make a fair point.
A quote from Philippines embassy.org "PhilippinePeso A person may bring into (import) or take out of (export) the Philippines, either physically or by electronical transfer, legal tender Philippine currency of an amount not exceeding PHP 50,000 (fifty thousand pesos, Philippine currency) without prior authorization from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas." End quote Trying to determine if this refers to at any single time, or overall.
The app i use toget idea of exchange rate is Called XE It says 50,000 philippine peso equal to approx £650
Oops yes wrong pesos sorry! Strengthens the argument that A you can take more than 50000 on your card B.you can top your card uo from your UK account
Your saying i CAN put more than 50,000 on my card? I was just writing the following message when your last one arrived, so disregard any part of it you see fit... "But if i have already put the money on my card before i arrive does that not get past the issue as i'm not transferring it in whilst there and not taking it in cash.? Clutching at straws no doubt. I also read you can spend up to 500,000 on a wise card in Philippines. I dunno man. I need more than 50,000 peso to do what i have to do. Only way around it is to apply to bsp.gov.ph" End
I have a Wise account with a lot more than p50,000 in it. Even have more than that in my GCash. lol....and even UK state pension into my Phils bank every 4 weeks exceeds p50,000. I think you're misinterpreting something. Just don't bring more than p50,000 CASH pesos into the Phil's (at the airport)...or $10,000 USD/equivalent. Relax and enjoy your trip.

There is a separate limit on local currency: you can take up to 50,000 Philippine pesos (PHP) into the country, but any amount over that must be declared. Foreign currency: There is no limit to the amount of foreign currency you can bring, but you must declare it if it is worth more than $10,000 USD. Philippine pesos: You are limited to PHP 50,000. Any amount exceeding this must be declared. Recommendation: For larger amounts, it is best to use your card for withdrawals from local ATMs rather than bringing large amounts of cash, as it is safer and more convenient.
It's quite possible i'm missinterpreting something mate, but it's not clear and i have to do my etravel thingy tomorrow which going buy youtube walkthroughs of the process, it appears limit is 50,000 for any means. I want to be wrong but can't find out. Least not yet... I have more than 50,000 in my wise card, won't be taking any cash at all. Is it possible your pension work through an agreement which makes the transfer acceptable. As what i've read so far is if you want to bring more in, whether cash or electronic transfer you need to apply. Am i allowed to post links in here so you can see what i'm reading?
Ok, so if this is correct, when i do my etravel thingy tomorrow, i just state how much i'm bringing and all should be good you think?
Found this on youtube ... That image is taken from a youtube vid going through the etravel declaration process.
Sir, I've been back and forwards to the Phils for the past 35 years (twice during the past month), and resident there for the past 8 years. With all due respect, you're over-thinking things. Just don't have more than the stated above amounts of currency with you in CASH when arriving in the Phils. End of story.
Ok. Experience noted and valued. I don't travel much, so i find it all pretty damn stressful to be honest. Not keen on hurdling eirher if you get my meaning. Thanks phili'P'
