I know what you mean. I also thought that. But if you were to watch carefully you would know that the book is just a tiny fraction of the work that he does. The book provides the reader with the opportunity to read about what he would normally charge for in private practice. Probably the converse of what you are trying to say. But heh, we all see things differently but I am not the one on statins.

Pills are not the answer to heart disease.

His father passed away recently. Tributes came in from Andy Burnham and Jeremy Corbin for his tireless work defending the NHS.
“The son of leading doctor and fearless NHS campaigner Dr Kailash Chand has paid tribute to his 'wise, kind and compassionate' father.

Dr Chand OBE, who was renowned for his work as a GP in Tameside and for fighting to stop the privatisation of the NHS, died this week at the age of 73.

Following the sad news of his death, leaders, colleagues and friends from Greater Manchester and beyond led an outpouring of grief on social media.

Now, his son Dr Aseem Malhotra has recorded a moving video message in tribute to his dad.

In the video published to Twitter on Wednesday, Dr Malhotra said: "I am completely heartbroken at the passing of my father Dr Kailash Malhotra on Monday evening.

"More than just being the most amazing father that anyone could wish for he was also my best friend on so many levels.

The people that hate him are the drug companies.

It seems that for a small minority and presumably you are one of them, statins work. For the huge majority they make matters worse.

The body needs cholesterol. It isn’t as simple as reducing cholesterol. Or raising it even. The ratios are important and so are triglicerides levels. For the vast majority of individuals a diet containing eggs, butter, cheese, full fat milk and meat including animal fat and no statins is the way to a healthy heart. Just as it says in the opening post.

Handing statins out like smarties has been the problem for many. Only the rare few benefit from statins.

This is the guy that is leading the way towards bringing the NHS to account on overprescribing. He is fighting for all of us, even the ignorant. The choice he refers to is dietary choice as opposed to immediate drug prescription.

    And from the government website…

    https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-pledges-to-reduce-overprescribing-of-medicines

It’s all there. Just needs to be read. Social prescribing, deprescribing and dietary intervention are all in the mix with the intent of prescribing less drugs to people. And you heard it here on Filipino Forum over a year ago. Amazing. It’s not how much you eat, it’s what you eat.

Again a bit difficult for some to digest. Oss will be able to translate for members like Mattecube who don’t understand. A chance to be educated on cholesterol:

@JohnAsh both I and Oss appear to always be on your lips(virtually speaking)perhaps that is something you have a fetish about. Worry not about my ability to understand things, worry closer to home, is your wife being looked after?

My wife informs our family what to eat and drink and what not to. She is usually right, as far as I know, and I follow her lead when I'm not sure. I cannot comment on what the member you quoted writes (not oss) as I ignore him.

So, last night a group from a team of 350 of us met up. The group includes GPs from across the country, a surgeon, nurses and others. Somebody asked about the mechanism by which statins are prescribed. Basically all GPs know the answer to that which is that merely by discussing it with the patient a box is then ticked and
points are accrued with financial reward being the end product. This was something I hadn’t been aware of although I did suspect something like this. If you are asked if you would like to go on statins then you can and should decline as they may well not help you and may actually cause you harm as explained in numerous sources. Best select good food choices instead. Up to you of course @aposhark . It’s your life (and your wife and kids of course- I am sure you want to be around to enjoy them for as long as possible and for them to have your love and support for as long as possible.).

Ignorance is bliss eh. I know you understand very little. You have been and helped your wife gain entry to the U.K. but that’s it. You are a pretty thick kind of guy and that’s why you just don’t get it. Any of it. I cannot be bothered explaining anything to you so Oss who at least has an understanding, can translate for you. Methinks to long spent on the motorway for huge chunks of the day thinking that you own more than the road. :D
