I monitor my BP and Sugar every morning, before I have anything to drink or eat.

Unfortunately I have the bad habit, as Italian, to slightly screw things up by eating pasta and bread, more often than it is recommended.

Thus loosing sight of my calories count of 1.500 daily...

Need to be harder on myself...

I popped into an Italian deli in the west-end the other day for a sandwich and coffee, the smell of the shop was incredible, the cheese selection fantastic, I could have easily sat in there and put pounds on. Screenshot_20220814_075155.jpg

My BP reading last August 8, 2022 was 166/114 then I had an additional medications Indapamide 2.5mg on top of Coracten 20mg and Citalopram. After couple of days, I ate bunch of mangoes with bagoong (salty baby prawn preserves) and my BP becomes 131/84!
People tells me I am not allowed to eat anything salty but how did my BP went down after eating salty bagoong? I have no idea!:lol::lol:

John was right about the carbs Dom, he had you in his sights he was trying to convince you that eliminating carbs would help you.

He was also for the most part right about not having to count calories, you don't have to count calories instead you are actually counting grams of carbohydrate, the net result the same in that you consume less energy but with a low carb diet you do it without feeling hungry.

The problem is that for a lot of people it is really hard to come up with a satisfying set of things to eat, for me I really only removed one major thing from my existing diet and that was rice, I substituted cauliflower rice, but I also haven't ate pasta in nearly 2 years and I also quit alcohol completely, deserts and sweets were also completely removed although I replaced that with berries and full fat yogurt.

My diet would be quite boring for most people but then again my diet has always been a bit boring anyway but 20 months in and 35 kg gone, it does work.

If alcohol is poison, many people would have been dead! :D It’s my choice to stop drinking as it’s not good for my health! Drinking days  are over! :cat:

It's a slow poison, but any substance you consume is a poison if consumed in the wrong quantities.

I remember a story from maybe 50 years ago about a British man who drank something like 8 litres of carrot juice in one sitting, he died, I can't confirm the veracity of the source and other reports suggest that people consuming more than this have been fine, but it's an example one person's poison is not always the same as another's.

Might have been I remember it from the science journals at the time and yeah 10 gallons is probably the right number rather than 8 litres.

1 mug of espresso made in the stove top gizmo and a bacon/spam sandwich or 3 scrambled eggs is my breakfast.
Lunch take it or leave it, depends if the wife is in or out. If she is in, no point in trying to fast as the nagging is continuous until I give in.

    Fruit any time..

And dinner, is mainly fish or chicken done one way or the other.
Last week I got some salmon, and poached it, She was up in arms, as in Pinas would be a sin, apparently. Anyway, butter sauce with king prawns, garlic and Chinese 5 spices powder poured on top of the fish proved to her there are more ways to cook rather than grill, bake or fry.
Accompanied by a light mixed greens salad, tossed with olive oil and balsamic vinegar did the trick..
Asked me if I can teach her how to do it.........
