Hi guys, As per the subject, what's your opinions? Looking at videos sent by a friend, the place we've bought doesn't have plumbing for a washing machine as we'd have in the UK. Is it easy to get that arranged? Just thinking that drainage will be a pain. Thanks again
Mine's a top loader fully automatic Samsung, drainage goes outside via a pipe. Just one connection to a water pipe previously built in. No need for a dryer here. wife puts the washing out and its dry in a few hours.
We've had a twin tub for the past 8 years. Does the job. Drains into the CR/Shower room drain. Mrs (as they all seem to do) still washes all by hand first.
I've got one like Jim, Samsung top loader... which is fine for us. Mainly depends on how much space you've got to dry - you don't need much but during the wet season here it can piss it down for weeks so... Plumbing shouldn't be a problem but check how high they say the drain pipe should be - that way you can work out if you can run the drain pipe into the bathroom/outhouse/kitchen sink waste plumbing - easy. If it doesn't mention a drain pipe it probably doesn't have a drain pump... so gravity only. Phone Customer Service before you buy it if it's not clear...
Thanks to you all for the advice, much appreciated. I'll know a lot more once I get there in November, unless I get more recordings from the Mrs friends. More to think about, but I'd rather go in knowing what to look for. Cheers
A top loader makes more practical sense than one that loads at the front, there is less strain on the Drum bearing and this will not wear out the same as a front loader which has a lot more strain on this bearing with the cantilever action imposed on it, also there is little chance of leaking doors and faulty door seals, front loaders were designed to be space savers giving you a chance to have a working space on top of them. Buying a machine in PH get the best you can with the longest warranty, you will find in time that Pinoys are not usually all that good at fixing things to last the long term and when they do a fix often break something else in the process, never expect a repair man (they like to be called technicians) there to know his job all that well most are Fecking useless Cupid Stunts with either little or more likely no formal training in their profession, good men there are few and far between. As a general rule the heavier the Machine the quieter it will be as they tend to vibrate much less, if you can get the Maytag Brand these are the best of them all over there, but Samsung is also very good, the price of them reflects this. I get the impression you are about to have a major change in your life by moving over to PH, by keeping your expectations low you will have a much better life over there, I lived there for 8yrs and for the most part had a great life there, now I am in my early 70's an old Coffin Dodger and having some health problems decided to get back to UK, having used the Medical services over there in PH I was not all that impressed by the Doctors there.
Yes @HONEST DAVE - also as you've alluded to... front loaders are for indoors whereas you can put a top loader outside, like we do, with a cover because they are a bit more robust.
