Valentine's day is approaching... and I am looking for love for my sister! Yes, I would like to find her a husband! She's been separated for about 15 years, but she never had time to look at another man, she devoted herself to her work (she's a P.A. for a celebrity photographer in the Philippines) and to her daughter, which is now 18 yrs old... I'm thinking perhaps, my niece would find a boyfriend before her mum finds a husband, and my sister will be left alone on her own. I think she can easily file an "annulment" when Mr Right comes along!

By the way, (my husband, my daughter and I live in Bradford, West Yorkshire), but my sister and her daughter are still living in the Philippines.... I did not meet my husband on dating site, so I don't really know which site to use, so I can help her find a new partner, any suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance!

I met my wife on a site called "Date In Asia". There are always pros and cons on dating sites, some people go on there looking to scam or just looking for sex, but some are also genuine.

You weed out the good from the bad just through conversations with them.

I'd suggest that your sister gets started on filing her annulment.

Two reasons - first, see the Revised Criminal Code of the Philppines, sections 333 and 334:

Article 333 : “Adultery is committed by any married woman who shall have sexual intercourse with a man not her husband and by the man who has carnal knowledge of her knowing her to be married, even if the marriage be subsequently declared void. Adultery shall be punished by prision correccional in its minimum and medium periods.”

Article 334 : “Any husband who shall keep a mistress in the conjugal dwelling, or shall have sexual intercourse, under scandalous circumstances, with a woman who is not his wife, or shall cohabit with her in any other place, shall be punished by prision correccional in its minimum and medium periods. The concubine shall suffer the penalty of destierro.”

Second, any prospective suitor, finding that after fifteen years she has not obtained an annulment, will conclude that she is still "carrying a candle" for her ex-husband and will shy away from her.

    Good luck.

Yep a seven year minimum sentence is it not?

There is after this time possibly a reasonable case that the ex has passed on though, also normally one would not expect a case to be called unless the ex partner was aware of current circumstances.

However a married Filipino person who has not had an annulment has impaired rights, they cannot expect to meet a new partner and start a new life, particularly when the new partner is a foreigner and the hope of the new couple is to live and move abroad.

Thanks everyone... very nice comments and suggestions.

My sister doesn't want to get married again, she's happy with her life as a separated woman, I think she believes she doesn't need a man in her life... so I better stop playing cupid!
