Anyone had this... bloody annoying, very debilitating even had to stop playing the piano now...

Every morning I wake up and it's like stiff and aching and makes it hard to grip things.

Get's a bit better during the day - varies.

I don't have a lot of confidence in Filipino doctors... so the idea of one of them cutting open my hand and having a fiddle around doesn't really appeal.

I seem to remember that a person needs to put money up front before a medical procedure but do they charge a lot for a prognosis / quick check-up of your hand, John?

I'd rather go to Taiwan. Filipino's probably would operate on the wrong finger or just chop it off.

    Is it definitely trigger finger?

A finger is bent to the trigger position and can't be willed to unbend?

    Like this?

I ask because I suffer from Heberdon's nodes on my right hand particularly on my index finger, it's not a problem yet but it's annoying as I've always had double joints on my left and still most of my right hand, I can bend my fingers back on themselves more than 90 degrees also known as hypermobility :D

My fingers bend more than this picture.

Heberdon's nodes are a sign of osteoarthritis.

Yes it is or hopefully was... mine does/or did bend but there is flicking sensation like the tendon has a nodule catching on the pulley sheath...

My first thoughts were Rheumatoid arthritis then arthritis then trigger finger ... in that order.

I then happened to read something about a lot of sports players getting it when they pulled their opponents jerseys' - I suspected I'd damaged mine when lifting those heavy bags of sand by the top which are really hard to get a proper grip on.

Anyway... amazingly, with the recent heat... the last month or so and I've been pressing my hand against our metal gate and the motor cycle seat for relief... as it tended to make things feel easier.

Fingers crossed but a few days ago I woke up to find my trigger finger had mysteriously disappeared... there's still a little tingle there but hopefully that'll go away too soon!

Very weird... perhaps I just needed to stop playing the piano/give the DIY a rest for a couple of months and do a bit of deep heat therapy!

I play piano too (very badly) but I think my life of typing on a computer keyboard has not done me any favours.

Good one ... that explains why I'm so bad too!

    @HONEST DAVE

Better add this Scottish Nurse and doctor to your list...

I got it quite bad, one finger in either hand about 4-5 months ago... following a period of rest I've been following her exercises for a couple of months now and it's very slowly got better...

It's still a little painful but I at least I can make a fist with each hand again now. :like:
