Hmmm... gossip is the Barangay are warning we may be without water when the gas runs out as ours is pumped...

Not sure whether this is scaremongering or what... as I understand it most of the electric here is generated using coal - which you need to transport... but why that should result in our water pump being turned off I don't know.

Anyone, tell me how it works - suppose we could get a well dug - assuming there is time...

Order a lot of fresh water in those big blue bottles 25 litre each I think, if you get those where you are.

I don't know about coal plants near you but I suspect that a fair bit of the electric in Manila is generated in gas turbines from LNG imports, the rumor mill on the internet is saying that they are looking at getting more coal power plants back online but that it will take time.

They'll have to start rationing electric power and petrol very soon otherwise they won't be able to extend much beyond the 45 days (from the 20th of March) they're trying to buy sanctioned oil I guess from Russia but Ukraine just hit a load of refineries and Russian oil infrastructure so who knows if they're going to be able to export to those who need it.

So rolling power cuts think 1973 and the 3 day week with no TV after 10pm even if you had electricity, to a lesser degree that's coming for us here in the UK too, you can't remove a fifth of the worlds oil and expect everything to keep running and this f*ckin madman is probably going to do his weekend market manipulation trick and start bombing Iran's power stations tonight after the markets close or just before they close.

So with rolling power cuts yeah the water pumps will stop.

I suspect that the Philippines will try to buy from China's oil stock buffer but who knows if the Chinese will be willing to sell any.

Buy water purification tablets and water filters (gravity filter as you might be filtering rain water).

The country will eventually be able to secure some oil from elsewhere but it won't be enough so the power cuts and fuel shortage will be there for an extended period and if this f*cker bombs Iran's power stations you can bet on 5 years or more, the lack of fuel is going to feck up farming so expect famine as well, here it'll be a major diet for the denizens of the UK.

Don't know about well digging, we have family that have a well but they're twenty miles away and it looked like it had an electric pump connected anyway that was years ago.
