There must be more to this story than meets the eye... Any ideas folks? Anyone in country that can shed a bit more light on this?
I can understand how he got into trouble... there are some real scumbags here. He's not doing too bad though - he's got nearly £1500 on his gogetfunding page!
What a dreadful story, hope he can extricate himself from that bad situation and get back home for proper medical treatment. Many people here over many years have mentioned the need for medical insurance but some people think they can skip it then they run into unexpected problems. He fell in love and expected everything to go well with her then it all went wrong. It can be paradise over there but it can also be a living hell when love turns to hate.

There are three linkedin accounts, one mentions Newbury but is spelled 'Whyte' the other two are also in the UK the HR assistant one you identified is likely the main one. Anyone describing themselves as a 'high flyer' is more than likely scraping together the pennies for a seat at the very back of economy. Saying that one of the best seats I ever had was my first flight to Manila on Emirates where I had an economy class business class bed (three seats)right at the back of the first flight
Well that would have been me 49 years ago but I never flew until 1986 by which time that appellation would no longer apply to me.
I suppose it could be assumed that the situation has got better for him over there as there is no more information about being abused by his Filipina ladyfriend. Maybe he has got the money from the gogetfunding page and used it to get medical attention in the UK. Good luck to him.
He appears to have been there since 2017 after taking redundancy or the likes, I think it far more likley that this is a sob story after his cash ran out, Facebook page edited when he realised that people could get real info on him, Mattecube is correct in saying that page has been changed in the last couple of days. Yeah I'm speculating but if you've been in country for 8 years or you're planning to be in a country for that kind of time then you need to think about how you can manage to live there.
It begs the question given that he is "imprisoned" how will he physically get at the cash fund? Yes he can transfer it to his account but he needs physical cash as well
I would have loved to have lived in the Philippines but as sure as night follows day I would have needed medical attention sooner rather than later and i don't have enough money to pay for that, this guy must have known when he moved to the Philippines that he would have needed a certain amount of money, now he has the begging bowl out, he made his bed now he needs to lie in it not put out the begging bowl.
I am starting to think that he may well be overstaying his visa and trying to muster enough money to flee. But, then again I am a a fervent believer in this guy not telling the whole story.
