Just over a half-million fewer people watched last night's episode compared with a week ago, even though its main host was less evident. Its viewing figures last night are the worst ever for this show. LeBanc's disrespectful wheelies and donuts near the Cenotaph were not shown but Evans was shown falling to his knees and vomiting - again!
I think it will run this series with Chris then he will be given other work and Top Gear will be seen for him as a lesser priority and be given to someone else. The beeb save his face and there's.
Air time for Evans programme one 49,latest show 29 minutes. The hosts of the spin off top gear extra are joining the Sunday night team, thin end of the wedge.
I admit we didn't watch the third episode. Couldn't muster up the enthusiasm for it and @BlueberryCheeseCake wanted to watch some old 'top gear' so we watched the one where Clarkson and Co crossed the channel in the car-boats instead.
Chris Evans steps aside after one series, no great surprise I guess given ratings and viewer feedback. I am sure he will be fine though
I was getting more and more used to the series and felt they were 'bedding-in', but last night - the finale, appeared to have been done on a shoestring. Amount spent on Jeremy, Richard and James' stunt in which all motor vehicles of British origin congregated on The Mall? - millions. And what did Top Gear 2016 spend? £12 on six Pac-a-Macs
Chris Evans has resigned from the show whose viewer figures for last night's season finale were just 1.9 million - the worst ever in the show's history. His past "anti-social behaviour" is apparently to be investigated by the Police.
Ah yes but Chris Evans could never travel that fast: whenever he was being driven any faster than a snail's pace, he vomited! The show should have been renamed "First Gear" in the interests of accuracy!
ive never liked chris evans--its the shape of his head. reminds me of the Mekon. only those above a certain age will know what i mean.
Just downloaded the Grand Tour Episode 1 and watched avidly. Although the first episode is set in the US of A, and therefore, each joke had to be made with the subtlety of a sledgehammer so they would understand, it was back to usual for the errant Clarkson and sidekicks. Whoever is left at the BBC, valiantly clinging to the wreckage of Top Gear and hoping for rescue should just let go, and sink into the inky depths. You won't top this. It's over. Let go. Next week, the GT tent moves onto that hotbed of motoring, Johannesburg, which is conveniently near to Namibia and some pretty spectacular sand dunes. I imagine that Ferrari, Porsche and MacLaren can let their tyres cool for a week, (having been ragged round the track by Jezza and pals this week).
I completely agree, Chris, having spent a very agreeable 71 minutes watching the Grand Tour. It is, for sure, just as high quality a product as the BBC used to make, but if anything it is more so. I have also watched the first few episodes of The Crown, a vary lavish and expensively-made portrayal of our Queen's reign. Like GT, it's not on terrestrial television but broadcast by Netflix. It's by the same author as "The Queen" (which detailed the royal reaction to Princess Diana's death) which was commissioned by the BBC but Auntie decided against making a marathon series - these will be more than 60 one hour episodes over the next five or so years. The first ten episodes are available on Netflix (and elsewhere ). Do watch, it is excellent. The BBC seems far more content to fill the schedules with cheap reality TV shows and yet it can't even hold onto those that for some strange reason become rather popular. Our cable company includes the BBC Entertainment channel but honestly it needn't bother because I've not yet met anyone who admits to watching its daily diet of Doctors, Holby City and early episodes of My Family.
A one off comment. GT and TG there is no 'THE' in 'the GT' (edit: 'as of now') And wow in 4K so you can see every wrinkle, loved it all Really it was really great! And the depth of sunshiny colour wow! (no I am not being sarcastic, I loved it)
Just saw the first episode of GT...Far better than the old TG IMO.. Bloody excellent! Shame about the Celebs though.
