Right, as one of them who attended CFO, I believe that it is very important... specially if the woman had been into a foreigner-filipino relationship for money/convenience... in the seminar, we were given shown cases/documentaries of women who are unlucky enough to end up in an abusive relationship when they reached the foreign country.. now, if you guys are not the abusive type, then don't fuss over CFO seminars.. it is there as a precaution.. won't hurt your mahal to spend a few hours just listening to them and assess their situation as well...

as for the questioning, it is also to assess how much we, pinays, know about our husbands to be.. extra measure to assure that the relationship is indeed genuine.. as to questioning the ex fiancee and the wife, it's just about right for me.. if i were the pinay, i would definitely want to find out .. ;);)

i won't be blaming them if a may-december affair is seen to be in a bad light.. better be cautious than to shrug it off... all i can say is, for someone who is gullible and whose intentions are wrong, the seminar would be an eye opener... it made me think as well..

so boys, don't fret! you're not guilty so just go with the flow

The way I read it is she will have got an attendance certificate on completion of the seminar irrespective of whether she has a visa or not. She can then take this attendance certificate (along with other documents) to the CFO (in Manila or Cebu) to be issued with the Guidance and Counselling Certificate (GCC). Once she has her visa she can then go back to the CFO for the sticker.

The other alternative is to wait until she has her visa and then go the CFO and get the GCC and sticker at the same time.

Manila actually has two places for seminars and one of those places is in the hands of the nuns!

Once my fiancée has her annulment I will be staying in the Philippines for 6-8 weeks. I think they have fixed times on fixed days of the week, for these seminars, depending on the country of destination.

I do have worries about our age difference - I am 60 tomorrow and she is 30 two days later and I am also disabled. But I think the concerns of the 'Nazi nuns' may be alleviated if I actually attend too.

I am sure that the nuns are not employed as decision makers, nor do the CFO make decisions on a person's right to emigrate following attendance at the seminar. As far as I can make out, attendance at the seminar guarantees the issue of an attendance certificate. The possession of that attendance certificate guarantees the issue of the GCC by the CFO and, once you have a Visa, the issue of the CFO sticker.

So, while attendance at the seminar may seem daunting and people may feel a little intimidated by the questioning, I think the outcome is a foregone conclusion - attend the seminar and you get the GCC and the sticker. The real worry comes at the interview by the UK immigration authorities! So, perhaps, attendance at the seminar actually prepares the emigrant for the even tougher line of questioning he/she may experience in the hands of the UK authorities? If so, I would suggest it may be better to attend the seminar BEFORE applying for a Visa!

The reason we didnt get the attendance certificate was Jhean "forgot" to take her passport she quick thinkingly told them it was in the post to indonesia hence no certificate untill she returns with passport and visa
