Is there a place to see stickies?

I would like one on how to post photos from the internet. (Photobucket, Flickr etc.)
Particularly how to post an image in a private way that does not allow other uses to see the site where they came from.

Forgive me Mike but what's a 'stickie' ? :) (in this context?)

Regards your other question the problem with the web is that links are not anonymous, there has to be a physical link that can be followed back to the source server resource that contains say an image or PDF file.

So you could always see where a picture for example was being hosted, what you might not be able to work out is what account on a particular service owned the picture, but that depends on the service provider for example Flickr.

Flickr have always required that any photo posted to an external site contain an identifying link back to the account and a link to Flickr itself identifying Flickr for example the following code

    Code:
    [url=https://flic.kr/p/pAwXDH]
        [img]https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3953/15487007095_71e0692bf4_b.jpg[/img]
camden road[/url] by [url=https://www.flickr.com/people/98119031@N00/]dick_pountain[/url], on Flickr
is how a Flickr image is supposed to be posted to a bulletin board, it would look like this :-
    [IMG]

    camden road
    by dick_pountain, on Flickr

now in that code the image on its own is actually fairly anonymous

    Code:
    [img]https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3953/15487007095_71e0692bf4_b.jpg[/img]
however plenty of people know how to track back to an account based on the raw address.

It is not possible to make the source truly private, however if you download a photo and repost it so that it is explicitly hosted here then its source will have been anonymised to an extent, but again search engines exist that could find the source of the image based on its content.

Hi Jim and thanks for your detailed reply.

Some forums have these "stickies" that are threads that are always at the top of the page and are important threads for everyone. They are easily found instead of digging too deep.
For example, there could be one about "how to post photos" with the information you have just provided.
I used to remember how to post photos but forget six months later.

I will try Flickr again, thanks again.

Ah ok, I thought that was what you meant but I was not sure mate :)

I'll look at putting something in the Photography section over the weekend, if I don't then remind me I'm not so good at completing projects these days :)

This would be more like it John from a privacy point of view, except that it is fairly trivial to do a reverse lookup on this URL.

You showed me how to import private photos into the forum, quite a number of months back, in a thread of mine. Not sure where it is now. I have used photobucket and those instructions of yours work well.

I have about 10 different projects on the go at work, I also have a wedding shoot where I have to finalise the photo selections and get them configured into a set of online albums then work out the best selection for a photobook, need to get that done and get everything uploaded this weekend.

Wedding was not a paid event, I was asked to do my nephews wedding a couple of weeks back, very stressful exercise :D but I managed to get some ok shots, about 250 of 500 were presentable.

That seems like an excellent hit ratio (50%). Good for you, Jim :like:

Posted from photobucket. Copied the url straight into the BF image option. Not sure about security though but I am not too bothered about the contents of my photobucket account that I use for the forum.

I tried to download some pics too, but kept getting, image too large, or something to that effect, even after down size.

As many of the sites that store images have different settings for sharing, I have always found it easier to download the image to my own PC, resize if necessary & then upload to the forum. This stops any issues with links I think you'll find :)
