    Hi Everyone,
Newcomer to the site, I,m actually seeking some advice on the possibility of getting married for a second time in the Phils. My ex wife and I were married many moons ago in Manila and after years of seperation we finally got divorced herein UK. this year, I,m aware that in order for her to remarry she/we would need to get an annulment but does that also apply to the foreign spouse if he wants to re marry in the Phils, or is it a case of getting recognition of divorce at (a) The British Embassy in Manila,or (b) The Philippine Embassy in uk, (or both?),or do I have to go to a judicial court in the Phils to get recognition of my divorce ,My girlfriend (never married) and I would prefer to get married in the Phils but are also considering marrying in Hong Kong, I,m just curious as to whether anyone else has been in the same situation, Anyway guys thats about it ,any help or advice would be gratefully acknowledged, Thanks, Gordon.

I've done it... 2 years ago.

Married to the first one for 15 years.

You will need a copy of your UK divorce certificate (Decree Nici, or whatever it's called) .

That will need to be shown, along with other documents, at the British Embassy in Manila, (or equivalent in Hong Kong) when you apply for your Affirmation Certificate... to take along to the Phils Registrar. The Registrar will also want to see your divorce cert, as will, I would imagine, the authorities in HK.

Go to the British Embassy (Manila) website for the info and online forms.

    Hi Graham,
Thanks for your reply, Did you have any problems or were you questioned when applying for the marriage license in the Phils.?

We had no problems whatsoever getting married, and no palms were greased. Basically, all our documents were present and correct..... ducks lined up, etc.
I can't see why you would have any problems either, as long as you do what is asked of you. Bear in mind... the (no) divorce laws in the Phils ONLY apply to Filipino citizens. :like:
