    Hi,

Wondering if anyone has had any success with getting a schengen visa if your not married ?

I'm from UK and she's in Phillies, say we want to visit Portugal together is there much chance that we would over stay there from their prospective? I will sponsor her and she has a low paying job, no assets.

She will have to apply on her on merit in the philippines- providing the same documents as a normal tourist visa.

My former colleague is still not married but she was able to get Schengen visa. BUT she is working in Dubai and had built her travel history (been to other countries).

Correct me if I'm wrong , but I wouldn't have thought being married was a requirement to getting a schengen visa .

It would be a bit strange it it was .

Being married to a British National makes it more of a formality (or it is supposed to be). More of an entitlement. But a pain in the butt to acquire. Technically it should not normally be refused if the applicant’s spouse is British (and if the applicant is resident in the U.K. - I believe).

We ended up getting two in separate years, before my wife was awarded citizenship. One for her to enter Portugal with me for a holiday and one to Spain.

Thankfully she doesn’t need a Schengen visa at all now, since Citizenship, which makes holidays to Europe so much easier.
