Not really Timmers but a new 4 man Jacuzzi here is 250.000 Peso.. Bugger that so now I wanna know "how"...... to save a few bob!
As John mentioned when you are either cooling or heating using this method the flow in/out of the exchanger (or bundle as they are often referred to) is paramount, too much flow means the exchanger does not have time to do its job. In industry the flow is controlled by a pump on the inlet and the outlet is fitted with a non return valve and mechanical thermostat that operates a flow valve. Note that any pressurised system like this needs to be fitted with a pressure relief valve for safety. Another problem with the above is the cleanliness of the water, after time the tubes may lime up and rapidly start to lose their efficiency, also the tubes need to be made from very thin gauge copper for heat transfer and this makes them vulnerable to splitting and finding which tube is split is not very easy as I know from experience. You can actually buy these off the shelf so to speak in industrial circles but they are not cheap.
My mate, Robin Heath has a great design for dealing with heat and shade in the tropics. It works well, he assures me.
Yes someone else mentioned that but I was trying to figure out how to get it hot without damaging the thing.. The guy in this vid doesn't seem to worry about that!! I think a thick metal plate under it would be better... Thanks again guys...I think I now have a plan!
Interesting movie. However a thick metal. plate will just make the whole thing less efficient by preventing air from throwing through like it'd supposed to. I think you should try a long chimney like the movie to allow the the gasses to cool a bit and keep the radiator out of the flames. Then it should be fine.
I hope you don't think it's me! I don't see anyone who might be Mr aah reincarnated... Is that what the cryptic thread was about?
a absolutely no doubt it's not you! and yes I've sussed him I think yesterday. But I maybe wrong I am sometimes time will tell.
Probably watched the lot...The Yanky version too!! Right up my street!! lol. Right..Hadn't thought of that... Hopefully, wont be hot enough to melt the Aluminium core!
Think it will be fine. Remember a car cylinder head is made of aluminium. Has a melting point of 650c. It's fine because it's water cooled - which of course your radiator will be.
