There is no grading down to A1 for the IELTS test. The lowest grade for IELTS is B1 which, I think, is a score of 4.0-5.0 on the IELTS test.

Hi Ate Florge! Based on my research both the TOEFL and the IELTS are exams designed to assess the level of English of prospective international / foreign man who wants to study, work and live in an English-speaking country. The difference between them is that IELTS is administerated by British Councils, the University of Cambridge, and IELTS Australia while TOEFL is administered by ETS, a US-based non-profit and is used widely by American and Canadian universities.

That means to say we have NO CHOICE but to take IELTS since we need to abide by the rules LMAO!

Micaweber, thank you for saying that I am already above A1 Level category in English Language! I do hope I would be able to pass the exams! :) I was told its not that difficult since a friend of mine who had a cousin who currently work in London as a nurse was able to pass the exam even if he was not very good in English.

Im in the process of reading more each day! :)
I've heard a lot of good reports about Study Connect, look here:-

Thank you for the link! I would take a look at this soon and will use this as my guide in practicing for the exam :) ;)

Micaweber, appreciation is given to you for taking time researching for good sites containing useful information to help everyone achieve there goal!

You need to take any English Language test that is equivalent (or better) to the A1 level on the European Common framework. That certainly does not restrict you to just the IELTS test. There are numerous other tests you can take.

If you take the IELTS test you will, in effect, need to get a grade equivalent the B1 on the European framework - somewhat more difficult than A1.
