ah--bugger it--looks like an urgent trip to london coming up.

her other issue is--she is annulled and divorced from her first husband...but still uses her married surname. i bet that will complicate things.

    Annulled and divorced??
An annulment means that the "marriage" was null and void from word GO!!

she filed for divorce from her filipino husband in the UK--in 2012 while she was here in the UK on a student visa.

we then found it it wasnt recognised in the phils--so she filed for annulment when she was back home in 2014. annulment can be obtained for a number of different reasons. in her case it was mental incapacity.

Your wife is not an alien to the Philippines nor does she need a visa to remain in the Philippines.
The UK does not subscribe to the 6 month rule, your wife has a current passport and UK Resident Permit, why would she not be entitled to return?

the more i trawl through interweb sites the more confusing it gets. i cant find a definite answer, but i agree with you.

but--we cant take the chance some jobsworth at manila airport could deny her access to the plane if her passport has less than 6 months left on it. in fact--about 3 months from the 10th of july--her probable return date.

in any case--she would need to renew it when she gets back--so we may as well do it now and get it done with. that will keep her happy and let me return to a peaceful condition.

incidentally--we can get from portsmouth to london by coach for £36 return--thats for BOTH of us--as against £86 by train.

I don't know if it is still the case but it is best to get to the Embassy as early as possible, make sure you confirm when you need to be there with the Embassy.

They let me in 14 years ago :)

Just look respectable, one of the few times I ever wore a suit outside business.

I know it has moved since then and protocol changes with time so it might not be the same today as it was so long ago but the one thing I know is that Philippine bureaucracy demands respect and it is wise to do exactly that :)

I went in there quite a few times in the past..
It was always very much like entering a Filipino wet fish market with fish wives and all.

Wifey number gets called she goes to the counter does the necessary then goes upstairs to pay. You just sit there enjoying yourself!

well--thats yeterday out the way; done and dusted. embassy staff person said new passport should take 6 weeks. heres hoping. better safe than sorry about not having 6 months left on her present passport when she goes back home.

my email to the embassy asking for clarification got a response--simply referring me to this:
    http://londonpe.dfa.gov.ph/consular-matters/passport

i went boss-eyed reading through that--and found nothing about my question.
