On spouse visa, can I register with GP on my first day in UK? Or, do I need any other number like NI (national insurance) before registering with GP? GP Registration form asks NHS number, shall I write IHS number there? To register with GP, they will need address proof. Any ideas how I can get something in my name on UK address?
I registered yesterday and the lady in the reception asked for my NIN which was weird. The NHS number will be given once she is registered so leave it blank. Just tell them it is her first time to register so there is no NHS number. IHS number is different, that's a reference that you have paid for the IHS fee.
But I mean why register her on her first day? Surely she needs some rest from a long flight. Give it a few days. Add her to the council tax. That's the easiest way to get proof of address.
Sorry for bothering Brom, but is my wife is new to UK, what proof of address can she show? Is it ok, if I just order a mobile sim online, and the post will have her name on it?
Aww sorry about that. As I suggested you can add her to the council tax and they will send a letter right away. That will be your proof of address.
Meaning to say it's different now because when I arrived here in the uk 2015 January after a week I received a letter that said I have to register to the doctor and they're giving us NHS number after we have an appointment to the GP. They just asked a marriage contract as proof and birth certificate for my daughter the British birth certificate issued by uk embassy Manila.
We registered while still on a fiance visa and had no trouble as it was the same go as me. They just asked if she was my partner and added her. My wife hates the gp system anyway. She says she would much rather pay a small amount and just be able to go to a clinic and get whatever needs doing without having to go to a go who just gives you a prescription.
Proof of address could be NI number letter, letter from bank, dvla, council tax statement, utility bill, etc.
