MANILA, Philippines - The threat of radiation from Japan reaching Philippine shores is real and should not be ignored, a professor and toxicology expert told the Senate yesterday.

During a public hearing of the Senate committee on health and demography on the effects of possible radiation exposure from the Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan, University of the Philippines professor Dr. Romeo Quijano cited two studies from the French nuclear institute and the Norwegian Institute for Air Research, both of which showed that radioactive fallout would reach the Philippines and the rest of the world sooner or later.

LOL, of course it does, the planet is round and we can't escape anything, but honestly asked " how dangerous is it after it has been around the planet for a journey ?" Cernobyl has reached everywhere too after a full year, as well as every nuclear test we made. Well, news sell, and panic news is best....

It may be another "slow death" we'l not notice til people start passing away and they investigate and trace it back to Japan years from now.So many find it convenient to say it's ok and not affecting me now, but in time it will affect everyone living in some way or another.

Japan has had it's share of nuclear fall out for over 60 + years, and now this. Its getting worse not better. Hope the weather blows north, away from the Philippines.
