The new conditions added to OFW employment contracts are all well and good for new recruits. My concern is for the 1000's of workers already there. What chance do they stand of being given a new contract?

Hi David, I'm a masters student @ Bristol Uni. I'm doing a study of the Philippines and migration, one of my focuses is on support systems women and men need to navigate the global labour market. Obviously, Filipinos migrating to work in the Gulf (an area considered notoriously bad for human rights) pops up lots. Just wondering did you or your partner work 'over there' ? If so fancy a chat?

    Hi Nicky

I worked in Dubai for 35 years, so yes I have a pretty good understanding of how these things work in the Gulf. My wife worked in Kuwait before her job in Dubai. She was one of the lucky ones that worked for a really good family who loved her and cried when she left.
