hi all and happy new year from your furry friend and I trust every body had a wonderful time.

Now then who's been to the Philippine embassy in London??

My wife has to go to get a power of attorney signed etc, tried calling them as to be expected no joy. So does anyone know can I book an appointment??or do I have to queue and I'm guessing it gets busy so if anyone has been any advice would be greatfully received.

A gorilla in that big city oh dear I hate the thought of it.

But I'll make the most of the shopping or my wife will oh dear

Hello. Never been to the Ph embassy in London yet but I believe that you don't have to make an appointment. You'll just have to queue, get a priority number and wait for it to be called. Make sure all you got all the requirements on whatever transaction you'll be dealing with.

We went to register our marriage. It's a case of take a number and wait to be called.

We got there early on a week day and it was already full, but were lucky when a woman sat in front of us gave us one of her tickets.

I seem to remember having to pay cash and being sent out to a cashpoint as they didn't take card payment.

I've only been to the old one to the west of Hyde park in Kensington Palace Gardens, as far as I know it has moved from there or at least the consular services have moved, google maps still says it is at Kensington.

In the old days no appointment was required, now I think they do ask for an appointment.

This appears to be the official embassy website http://www.londonpe.dfa.gov.ph/

Very first FAQ is on Power of Attorney http://www.londonpe.dfa.gov.ph/consular-matters/faqs

Regular office hours appear to be detailed here http://www.londonpe.dfa.gov.ph/consular-matters/visa can't find the hours anywhere else, but this suggests that for visa's they have walk in applicants so other matters may be handled the same way.

Ah opening hours detailed here http://www.londonpe.dfa.gov.ph/contact-us a non intuitive menu as I would not expect the top level menu to do anything but open the drop down menu.

Just as others have indicated there's no special requirement for appointment. Turn up, take a ticket and wait your turn.
Just be sure you have all the needed documents and ID's etc.
    Especially the fee:D

We've done the SPA many times and it's very straighforward. :like:

The Embassy is just a few minutes walk from either Piccadilly or Charing Cross tube stations. Just be sure to know which road to take when you exit the tube station as there are many choices.

Plenty of shops and restaurants very close by.

I guess that would be The Royal Trafalgar then.
We stayed there many times. Great location for walking around sightseeing.
Of special interest for us was Japanese Shopping and Japanese restaurants all a few minutes walking from the hotel.

Well our trip went well and no problems like everyone said take your ticket and wait your turn. We arrived around midday and I think all in all it took 4 hours so not bad considering. One thing to note though you can't pick the SPA up on the day it takes three days to process. They can post it to you for a fee but we stayed for the week so it was not a problem, to pick it up it took 5 minutes as not ticket just go in and go to the counter.
What I did not though around three the building was nearly empty and fast so I think when it comes to passport I will try going there later in the day.
The thistle was ideal just round the corner from the embassy and the hotel was fine with friendly staff and very central and easy to get around on the tube.

    No prior visa necessary.
On arrival he can get either a 30 day stamp on his passport, or he can avail himself, by asking the officer, of the balikbayan Visa, if you are traveling together as husband and wife, for 12 months.
