Hi, yes my wife had an IELTS A2 test booked in London for April 19th, but testing is still suspended. I called the British Council this afternoon and they said people will be emailed prior to their test offering a refund or a future re-booking. They also suggested simply booking an additional test slot in May prior to getting the email, as they are filling up fast. My wife's FLR M application is due mid June, so we don't have a lot of time to play with....

Hi. If you booked an additional test I assume you have to pay again and that if you cancelled it you would lose your money should your original test take place. It will be interesting how they deal with a FLR application if the IELTS A2 test has not been passed due to cancellations because of the virus lockdown.
I will have to reapply for my wife's FLR in October 2020, so I am hoping things will have settled down before then.
Good luck to you and anyone else with a planned test soon. I hope you get it all sorted.

Hi everyone. My wife has just had an email cancelling the A2 test at the end of this month, with the offer of a refund or a free transfer to another date. We have asked to be re-booked to the end of June in the hope that lockdown will be relaxed further. If not I guess I will just keep re-booking.

My wife has had her A2 test cancelled, but her visa expires 4th July. I hope they extend the visa....has anyone had similar?

I would hope that any decision made on a visa application for further leave to remain would be delayed until the A2 test can be taken, as at the moment the centres are not open. If that is the case, then I would also hope that the current visa would be extended until a decision can be made when all the information is available.
There must be a lot of cases like these.

Hi, I called the British Council the other day and they said IELTS A2 testing will resume on June 27th. We had booked a test for May 31st but this was ultimately cancelled (having also had a test cancelled in April). My wife's visa expires on June 25th, but we were not able to re-book the IELTS test until July 12th. I called the Home Office and they said just to submit the extension application and upload the IELTS results once we have them. Hopefully they will be understanding about this when they assess the applications!

Hi. Good news that tests will resume. Lets hope that nothing changes. It does sound like that everyone should just submit their application for extension as normal and then the decision maker will wait until the test results are available. They can then make the formal decision. On that basis I assume that the current visa will be treated as still valid until that decision is made. Good luck to you with your application and anyone else making theirs.

Thank you. Yes, the Home Office said the current visa will remain valid once the extension application has been submitted. I imagine there will now be a huge backlog of appointments for the biometrics, so it is probably going to be a long wait after submitting the application to get a biometrics appointment. My understanding is that you can upload documents online at any point prior to the biometrics appointment, so any documents that could not be obtained because of the lockdown could be uploaded prior to the biometrics I guess.

Hi, my second FLR (M) visa expires mid July but the earliest slot I could get at Trinity College for my English exam is mid August. I am required to have my passport with me to take the test, however with the new visa application I am confused as to whether or not I would need to send my passport off as I did the last application before my visa expires.

I've been working on the online visa questions and scanned most of the documents listed but have not yet gotten to the payment and further actions page as I am still waiting for a bank statement and unsure about the passport situation. For others who applied for their FLR (M) recently could you guys let me know if I would or wouldn't need to send my passport for the visa application?

When you go for your biometrics they will scan your passport there and give it you straight back

Here is link to UKVI guidance for English requirements.

    Guidance
    https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/846360/English-language-req-v4.0ext.pdf

I've heard that some applicants with higher CEFR grade test than required are getting a Home Office e-mail stating the required minimum test and would have 14 days to take it if they wish or their application will be processed based on their current information given....

I sense that UKVI want an easy life innot having to check the approved lists if the qualification is higher than the minimum required, instead have us spend time and money to have a minimum matching required test result!
The requirement is to have a qualification that meets OR Higher.

When using previously gained qualifications, just make sure the test result is still approved.
The guidance also has link for earlier tests prior to SELTS

The above link if for checking approved tests centres (overseas and UK, also specific test and grade requirements)

Annoyingly English test providers are offering a multitude of English Tests, however you must ensure that you take a UKVI recognised specific test, even if the some tests do still grade non-approved tests with the same grades.

My wife took her A2 English test yesterday so just waiting for the result now. The venue was changed and took place in a 4* hotel. Sadly no refreshments were forthcoming but the toilets were very nice!!
